The diva rounds continue: this morning an email from one of our tenors requesting transposition of two songs, one up a half step and one up a full step, which will cost around $400 for the copyists and another $200 for proofreading. Since I've used up my budget for copying music several weeks ago, I am not amused and I honestly suspect the request is more from a desire to sing higher (he is a tenor) than because he will sound lousy. He;s had the music for four months and two weeks before he records, he's decided this. This is his second request for higher notes and I accommodated the first. I just sent the MD a short response: NO.

Makes you wish for the kind of client who pays cash in advance and then is thrilled with what you send.

Myrtle-Belle is so happy this morning. Such a loud purr from such a scrawny little thing.

Only seven photos of the hawk, though. So one or two out of seven. Not bad, really. It kept turning its head.

I was catching up with this weekend's posts and reading about Laura Branigan's "Gloria".  I have to admit that whenever I see the title "Gloria", I think of the Patti Smith version.

I always think of The Manhattan Transfer's Gloria.  Jump to about 3:15 for the real start of the song.

TOD:

There's no question in my mind that some people are very gifted psychically. While I've never met a psychic who I would call a fraud, I've met some psychics that IMO are not as gifted as they think they are. Like musical talent, I suspect psychic ability covers a broad spectrum. All the psychics I've met have been caring people, who want to help others.

I've never been to a seance and my ouija board experiences as a child were all just for fun. My interest in psychics isn't really to learn the future--it's to better understand the past and present. I'm not at all sure I want to know the future!

TOD - the closest I've ever been to a seance was serving as dresser for a friend of DR Elmore's and mine when she played Monica in THE MEDIUM.  She had a pretty quick change into a gauzy dress and the diva playing the title role shouted "Velcro!" like "Plastics!" in THE GRADUATE.  So, DR Elmore and I dutifully applied Velcro to Loyce's dress and during the seance scene, while I was helping her with her change, the fabric stuck to itself in all sorts of unintended ways.  I suggested that the contralto stick to her singing and let us deal with the costuming.  IIRC, the Velcro came off before the next performance.

Topic of the Day:  As a kid, we used to have a Ouija board, but nothing ever really happened (an Is There Life After High School? reference ;))

The only time that I had my Tarot cards read was going to college in Bellingham, WA when a friend read them for me.  She was learning and had book and had to look up what everything meant.  She said that I would become a teacher (that was my plan, at the time) and travel all around the area.  It turns out that I didn't become a teacher (I dropped the "education" part of my music education program) and I moved back to the area that I've lived in since I've been 10, except for the years that I was at college.
