Walt Disney World: New luxury pet ‘hotel’ is a sellout

The newest resort facility to open at Walt Disney World near Orlando, Fla., already has sold out its VIP suites every weekend until January, and spaces are filling quickly for next year.

That’s “VIP”  as in “very important pet.”

The Best Friends Pet Care “hotel,” which is exclusively for cats and dogs and certain other creatures (but no humans), opened Labor Day weekend with 250 pets and received more than 600 reservations in its first week of operation, spokeswoman Deb Bennetts said.

The upscale kennel, which holds up to 270 dogs and 30 cats for day care or overnight boarding, is already  getting booked up for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday periods.

“While we still have some space, anyone planning to visit Walt Disney World with a pet between mid-November and early January should call very soon,” Bennetts wrote Monday in an e-mail.

Dogs, aside from service animals, are not allowed in any of the theme parks, resorts or buses at the  Florida amusement park.

The pet palace, which sits opposite Disney’s Port Orleans Resort and covers 50,000 square feet, includes  rooms, suites, a dogs-only water park and an outdoor dog walk that skirts the natural wetlands around the park.

Humans may take their pooches on walks in a dog-park-type setting.

These very last episodes of AS THE WORLD TURNS are really amazing. If the writing and acting for the past year had been this good, maybe the show wouldn't be going off the air. A lot of it has to do, I suspect, with the actors' emotions about the closing tomorrow, but they're really quite wonderful.

2. The Merry Wives of Windsor -- I saw an outdoor, Shakespeare in the Park production of this show every single evening that it ran, it was so wonderful. And it was never better than when the director replaced the leading lady and performed with script behind a fan. She was spectacular in ways the actress could never quite measure up to.

Was that the year it ran with "Two Gentlemen of Verona?" (I've got a rather embarassing/amusing story involved with that production)

No. This was in Louisville, KY, when I was growing up. But we all want to read the embarrassing/amusing anecdote now.

I've been recording this for DakotaCelt and on Monday...without notice!...the President gave a speech and the episode was preempted!  I was able to download a flash video version of the episode and will send that to her (and a couple of other episodes that I missed).

Because they are our special friends and deserve the very best!

Note: the pet hotel rates aren't much higher than you'd pay to kennel your dogs when you were away.

Other possibilities:

A Song For Kong ("She never calls, she never writes")

BK

You should have order the larger Mac n' Cheese:

Quote
ALL-ABOUT-THE-CHEESE MAC & CHEESE FLIGHT
Fiscalini Xtra Mature Cheddar, Lasagnette & Ritz Crackers

Cypress Grove Goat Cheese, Conchiglie & Popped Corn

Porter Beer Cheese, Corkscrew Pasta & Rye Croutons

EIGHTEEN

Your smaller plate was only the first flight.

(Listing for the larger portion plays "fairer" by clearly listing the non-macaroni pasta used.)

And the banana split sounds yummy - if fatal:

Quote
PORKY PIG BANANA SPLIT
Bacon & Banana Ice Cream, Jalapeño Hot Fudge, Brandied Cherries & Caramel Pork Rinds

I've had rounds of emails, schedules, and other madness. Outside of an hour break for the post office, the market, and making tuna salad for lunches at the studio this week, with a few breaks to compose songs for KING KONG - Joshie and I want to orchestrate it! - all I've accomplished today so far is recording business.

I was most amused by your $14 Mac and Cheese....was it as good as what you had at Shapiro's in Indy?

Shapiro's was masterful compared to this - and the size of this thing was so ridiculously small - it probably cost them all of twelve cents to make it.

As for the Topic of the Day... à la minute as it were...

"The Skin of Our Teeth" - Thornton Wilder
"Twelfth Night" - William Shakespeare - Even a somewhat less-than-good production always seems to make me smile.
"The History Boys" - Alan Bennett - I was fortunate enough to see the Broadway production twice. Wish I could have seen it three or four more times. At least the movie version retains most of the cast if not all of the charm and magic.

Since I'm totally re-writing Key 2 for SB (that's Sunset Blvd in internet lingo) I've begun going through the piano/conductor score and the patch lists from R&H and creating the K2 part from what I can make from everything.  "Let's Have Lunch" has 30 changes... that's a bit much I think.

Back to work....

"He's Got A Lovely Set of Coconuts"
"His Breath Makes Me Faint"
"My Guy's Hairier Than Yours"
"I'm Never Letting Her Go (from the palm of my hand)"
"It's Raining Planes"

And the big 11:00 number:

Umm... Remind me to send you a copy of the Key 2 book from Mary Poppins.  -There's one 10-measure sequence that has 7 changes - two of which involve a footswitch patch change, a volume level change AND a MIDI-lever change.  -And those happen in the same measure!

Thursday morning greetings!  Cool and rainy here in SW OH after quite a thunderstorm early this morning.  I have a busy day ahead during which I shall have to ponder the TOD.

I'm wondering if we're dealing with the "same" storm here in NYC right now.
