Good Morning!

I'm up, I'm up... And I was up earlier around 5:00am due to the sound of the torrential downpour and crazy strong winds outside my window. It truly sounded like one huge clogged drain outside for a while. I even thought I heard some hail. At least I was able to get back to sleep for a bit and catch two more hours of shut-eye.

Good morning, all! I have to run down to Toyland on a few errands, stop at the market for supplies to make a batch of tuna salad, return here and make the said salad for my lunches this week at the studio.  I have some writing to do here when I return as well.

Greetings from Toyland! It was a wet trip to get here.

This has been an uncomfortable Toyland week, so I'm here to copy samples from a few scores, take home a few things, complete a couple of projects, and get home to organize things I need for a week in the recording studio. We're having a guest from another Institute project coming in for God knows how long and needing an office space, so I need to make a space as well for him/her.

I forgot to mention that the diva tenor continues to be a problem. I do hope we do not have to fire him during tomorrow's session, but the music director tells me he's concerned.

So, while the bad news continues:
The Oaf Above Me Is Back! ! !
It's been so quiet after midnight lately that I forgot to use the earplugs last night, and sure enough, I was awakened by a slamming door sometime after midnight and then at 1:30 a woman screaming as if someone just bit a part of her anatomy too violently. I then foudn the earplugs.

It is unseasonably hot and humid in Portland.  Today is supposed to get up to 80, quite warm for these environs at this time of year.  Plus, it is just "sticky" out, which hardly ever happens here.

Ms Wilkinson was DR CP's twisting partner, if I recall correctly - or perhaps he saw Ms Wilkinson doing the twist with Mr Harlan Ellison - in any case, it is some story!

Oy, I managed to survive watching Blue Mountain State for my review, but the studio wants me to IV the cast.  Double oy.

I have some interesting stuff today, including a rare staging of RIENZI (extremely truncated, but interesting) and Abbado conducting the Mahler 6.

Did anyone else see/hear that Greg Giraldo (Last Comic Standing) died two days ago.  I was shocked to see Jon Stewart's homage to him on the Late Show of 9/29, which I had recorded and just got to last night.  I saw no news reporting of this at all.
