Waiting for the callback from Leaf Filter.  I do NOT do well with bait and switch.  We put down several thousand dollars for this job, and it had better be back on my credit card by 5 p.m. today if they're not going ahead with the job.

Off to the heart-healthy eating class at cardiac rehab, after which I will do my exercise routine.  On my way home, I'll stop at the local Miami U campus bookstore to see if I can find a hooded sweatshirt to wear to Saturday's homecoming game.  Bye for now!

The list of songs we've chosen thus far is really eclectic - that's why I'm looking for a couple more theater songs - and if any of them were duets that would be great because Guy loves to do duets as there is less singing for him.

bk - Has Guy Haines ever considered multi-tracking himself for a duet, trio or quartet?

I am assuming that the Peter Bellwood who is responsible for a third of the screenplay of Highlander is the same man who wrote the book for Gantry and who is the father of my niece's Reed College roommate.

Leaf Filter will be replacing all of our gutters for no extra charge.  Beyond the close to 10K I'm already paying.   :P :o

The guy was a bit of a jerk about it, but that's tough.  LeafGuard had quoted me more or less the same amount for all new gutters anyway.  I'm just not going to play the bait and switch game.

My question today is for DR Cillaliz.

Dear DR Cillaliz:
If the police are asked to do a welfare check and no one answers the door at the house, can they enter to check on the person? (Obviously, if Grandma fell and broke a hip or if someone died, said person cannot answer the door.)

If they do enter and then find something illegal or unhealthful (such as squalor) can they do anything about it, since they didn't have a search warrant? In the case of squalor, can they report it to the mental health authorities or health department?

DR Laura:  If in your scenario, the police were alerted that there could be a problem or there are concerns from someone and that led to the welfare check, they can enter and if there are things in plain sight - drugs. squalor or whatever, yes they can report it.  To whoever.  I would think a welfare check would be worthless if they couldn't follow up on what they find.

DISCLAIMER - this isn't legal advice.....just had to do that

My suggestion (sent via PM) could be a duet, but is usually a three-et, at least it is in the movie.

Nice house JMK and nice job negotiating the new gutters.   I need to clean mine tonight.  I can't reach the high ones, but the wind tends to blow them clean

I didn't really negotiate, LOL.  I told them straight up I wasn't paying one more dime for this job and they either could put in new gutters for the contract amount or refund my many thousands of dollars deposit by the end of biz'ness today.  :)

Welcome seven GUESTS.  It's funny that our GUESTS are the first ones to know about the Guy Haines project because our regulars are WUSSBURGERS.

First of all, Congrats to BK and Guy Haines on the new Kritzerland project!!

I wasn't Wussburgering last night.  After getting my brand new (but obviously tempermental) cable modem just the day before yesterday, I got home last night and had to turn off, then on the brand new cable modem.  It worked quite well for about an hour and then it just turned itself off.  I couldn't do anything to get it to turn on and stay on.  When I unplugged then replugged the power, the lights would blink for a few seconds, then they would all turn off.  I called Comcast customer service and was told that the best thing would be for them to send someone to my abode to look at it in person.  So, they're coming tomorrow (Thursday) sometime between 10:00 a.m., and noon.  So, I only have Internet access at work, which is where I am now. :P

Will Guy Haines be making any personal appearances to promote this new album?

I've always wanted to meet him, get my picture taken with him and, of course, get an autographed CD.

Yes! Me, too!

In the stupid things department:
I stubbed my toe yesterday--or so I thought at the time. Apparently it wasn't just my little toe--I bruised much of my foot, as well. In any case, I'm hobbling around. I don't think I broke anything, but it still hurts and it's painful to put weight on it. A friend who has broken his foot twice said that the only thing that helps is to immobilize it. Fortunately, I have nothing that must be done today (things that maybe should be done, but nothing imperative). So it looks like it's a day of rest for me.
