THEY ABIDE, AND THEY ENDURE
« on: November 16, 2010, 11:52:58 PM »

Well, you've read the notes, the notes endured and abided, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently enduring and abiding in parts unknown.

DR Jose: re: kids getting sick in general.

Yeah they do. My point was that my niece had never really been sick for the first 15 months of her life, till she started daycare.

Good morning, all! I too had a difficult time logging on this morning.

The Oaf was one noisy cuss around 1:30 this morning so I guess he means to go out with a bang: lots of walking about, primarily, and little in the way of crashes and thumps. I will be extremely happy when he's out of the building.

I'm off to the NYU Dental Clinic again this morning; my dentist rescheduled me yesterday during all of the leaky sink madness. She says I won't be there more than 30 minutes so we'll see how it goes. After that, I will come back here, get my notes together and head down to the Theatre Collection for more research.

Wednesday morning greetings!  Puttering, errands, and cardiac rehab session 34 (of 36) for me today.

You're almost done, Ginny!

Did you lose any weight with all this rehab?

Yes, DR Laura, I'm very close to being able to say that I've lost 20 pounds.  A good start...

BK, I love NIGHT OF THE HUNTER, and have loved it since I first saw it around 1977 or so, when I was in Jr. High School.

Robert Mitchum in that film reminded me very much of my step-father (making it very easy for anyone to understand why I moved from my mom's house to my dad's house!)

I actually watched THE NIGHT OF THE HUNTER all the way through for the first time only last year and I found it mesmerising.

Wasn't there a book released just this year about the making of it?

Hmmmmmmm.....

The Criterion Disc is listed as 1.66:1

The Criterion Blu Ray is listed as 1.77:1

Maybe it's the impotence of proofreading.

My BK question of the day:

What movie(s) have you always wanted to see, but have never been able to locate or catch on TV.

For me it would be the 1959 film noir TOKYO AFTER DARK starring Richard Long and Michi Kobi. It was released by Paramount, so you would think it would not be so obscure...but I have never even been able to find even a grey market print of the thing!

Same with the 20th Century Fox film HIGH POWERED RIFLE starring Allison Hayes. If I am recollecting correctly this early in the morning, it is the only Allison Hayes film I have not yet seen.

I am also looking for THE HIGH POWERED RIFLE.....I think producer/director Maury Dexter told DR MBARNUM, that he doesn't even have a copy or know where one is.....
