I told the super that I had learned I wasn't responsible for any eviction. His response: "why should you care? Good riddance!"

I love him.

I concur with your super.

The super hates him because he lied on his application about no pets and moved in with the dog. I have to get the super a thank you card and give hi some money for fixing my sink yesterday.

Cilla, do you recommend any background check sites?  The one I used for my current tenants charged me an arm and a leg and ended up not providing me with much info.  I want to know if they've ever been convicted of a crime and/or declared bankruptcy.

What state are they from?   Here's  the court records in Oregon http://courts.oregon.gov/OJD/OnlineServices/index.page?

Most states have free criminal record searches if you know where they've been.   I usually use FBI fingerprint checks for my immigration clients.  We can do it for $18, but you can't do that for a potential renter....

I've never really checked for bankruptcy, you'd want to check the federal district court website for your district, or wherever they lived.

They're Oregonians.  It looks like you have to be "official" to register at the OJD site--they ask for your "organization."  I just thought maybe you had used a background check site before.

On the plus side, I got my DVD today of Braunfels' glorious 1920 opera Die Vogel. Jewish Walter Braunfels, like the forgotten Catholic Jaromir Wenberger, was one of the composers the Nazis suppressed but his works are now getting performances again. His opera Die Vogel is based on a comedy by Aristophanes and truly lush and gorgeous. I cannot wait to watch the DVD. Braunfels was the great Trude Rittman's mentor at the Cologne Conservatory; she adored him and I adored her.

This litle kid in the balcony panicked, started shrieking and screaming "Get me out of here!" I thought, kid, you're speaking for all of us.

I've felt that way at more than one show, Elmore.

Me too, at too many shows.

I got my CD of DEAD OF WINTER today. I had no idea my friend Larry Hochman orchestrated it! He's really good.

I am so glad I didn't take Little Ricky to the vet tonight.   He's had plenty to eat, which is good because all food and water have to be taken away in 15 minutes.  He's on his roost right now, but I'll take him upstairs to my room abotu 8:00PM.   I don't think he'll be happy being shut in there, but it's WAY better than being in a cage at the vet, so I'm not going to feel very sorry for him

Definitely better!!!

My sister got my niece's (the baby with roseola) school pictures today.  The people taking the pictures give a website with background options.

IMO these people are insane. I don't know who they take pictures for, but i'll assume they do little kids pictures and school pictures.

There were 100 choices. And none of them were plain backgrounds.  Everyone that was sort of nice had some weird object in the corner that was ugly. Most of them were either outdoor scenes (fields...) and a bunch were things like the eiffel tower (?).

But a lot of them were outdoor scenes with things like farm animals (cows) in the pictures. Now who on earth wants a school portrait where there kid is standing beside a fence with a cow. Another one had geese chasing the kid.

It was hilarious but ridiculous. My niece is wearing pink. There is one pink background that actually looks sort of schoolish. It has letters in the air. Another pink one makes it look like she is outdoor standing beside a cherry blossom true (nice but is this how one wants the kids school picture?).

Oy.

I'm shocked there aren't any plain ones to choose from.

Craig has been putting in long days of driving.  I won't be surprised if he makes it to Arizona by tomorrow night.

No, I get them for nothing with my discovery or I have an investigator get them for me

MR BK's experience sounds like mine with Hollywood Video online......I kept getting an error.....then after three tries, found out that my order had been placed THREE times!

Took a week or so to get them to send me just ONE of the orders and cancel the other two.

Before my Wednesday hiking group hiked this morning we went on a tour of the Micro Train Company. http://www.micro-trains.com

It was fun to see them put together the tiny accessories, and amazing they can see to do it.

So, Richard and I went to Dayton Mall this afternoon so I could visit the Lands End shop at Sears, a fruitless trip, alas.  I've lost enough weight for the pants in my closet to look like clown pants.  However, not enough to justify buying new ones.  Maybe my cardiac rehab nurse was right when she suggested I wait until spring to deal with the clothes issue.

It makes sense to wait since it is the season for bulky warm clothes.  It might be worth checking out used clothing stores or even Goodwill.  Look for church rummage sales too.

If you wear cuddleduds under your bigger pants it'll still be comfortable. If you wear them under pants that just fit, they can be a bit tight...if you don't wear cuddleduds....never mind

That's a good idea, DR Jane.  There's a nice resale shop near Dorothy Lane Market where I sold some Vera Bradley this fall.  Maybe I'll try there...

Doesn't usually get cold enough here for Cuddle Duds, DR Cillaliz.  And when it does, I just stay inside!

Good luck Ginny.  I'm sure one pair of pants that fit will make you feel better.  Baggy sweaters are fine.

Maybe if no one buys the photos because the backgrounds are hideous they will put in a plain option.

Well you don't really have a choice. Everybody buys their kids school pictures. They were just the most bizarre backgrounds. I mean who wants their school picture set at the eiffel tower or with farm animals?

Jane, we have, maybe, a couple of really cold snaps each winter, but not the sustained cold weather that I remember from Michigan.  Our winters here are usually much milder than "up north."
