The oaf is being particularly noisy tonight. I think he's got company in.

I'm about ready for bed. I am quite sleepy.

Well, I found out why Spats hasn't been adopted. Just as I feared, he got sick. So I am going to bring him home to nurse him back to health.

Oh, poor Spats.  He's very lucky to have you.  And how great you checked up on him,

Poor little Spats. He'll be feeling better soon. Funny thing -- he never purred for us before. Now he's purring up a storm.

He missed you.  And he's glad to be out of the cage

I'm trying to guess where in California Craig stopped tonight.  Last night he was in Holbrook, Arizona.  Tracking him helps me feel connected.  I called him from the market today & he is extremely bored.  All he does is drive and sleep.

DEAD OF WINTER arrived yesterday.

My copy arrived yesterday, also!  That's what I'll be listening to today. :)

After that will be my CD-R made from The Manhattan Transfer's Christmas DVD.  It has great sound and wonderful songs!

Manhanttan T's Christmas album is a perennial favorite.  Will have to add that to the weekend's play list.

Which TMT Christmas CD?  Their first one:

or their second, acapella [sic] CD?

I was about to ask the same thing, DR George.

*In this case, isn't the "second" actually the "first", and vice versa?

Chances are he wants to spend a lot of time with his "friends" before he leaves.

A few hours ago, I attended a "preview" recital by baritone, Randal Turner.  He presented a program of music by living composers. I admit, I was a bit hesitant to attend due to the amount of "New Music" on the program, but I'm very glad I went. He sang very well, and his selection of songs and arias was, well, well selected. -And three of the composers represented on the program - Clint Borzoni, Glen Roven and Jake Heggie - were also in attendance tonight. -And my friend, Jennifer Peterson, handled the piano accompaniments with authority and aplomb.

*Randal will be presenting this program in Oakland in two weeks, so, if you happen to be in the Bay Area and are interested in attending, CLICK HERE.

Here's a pic of him from André Previn's A Streetcar Named Desire:

TOD:

DVD: Leon the Professional, White Christmas

CD: Company, the Baker's Wife

Car CD: Disc 4 of Patti Lupone reading "Patti Lupone" (of seven).

I would have slit my wrists on Disc 1.
From her mush-mouth? I find it funny that her profs tried to strangle her more than once to get her to enunciate her words properly.

I like Patti. I saw "Anything Goes" on an Easter Sunday, and it was one of those rare performances where the audience stopped her time and and again at the end of numbers for encores. It was sheer, gossamer fun. That's sort of why I'm nervous about the upcoming revival.

DR JohnG - There really was something quite special about that revival. I can still picture the staging of "Blow, Gabriel, Blow" in my head.

I'm also a little "worried" about the upcoming revival. I'm just trying to figure out how much "new" stuff they'll be putting into it.  Alas, I fear there's going to be a lot of interpolations and jiggering with the various books. Now whether that will be for the better or the worse, well.. We shall see.

Craig is now in Bakersfield, California.  At the rate he is going, weather permitting, he could be home by tomorrow night.  It would be best to introduce the dogs earlier in a neutral environment so they have time to become friends before bringing Yogi into the house.  There is also a trailer to unload into the storage unit.

The storage place is closed on Sunday.  We don't want to have to bring the trailer up to our house.  If it snows it will be difficult to get it back down as Craig doesn't have snow tires.  If it snows Craig & the trailer won't make it up here at all.

Craig's cat hasn't pooped since Sunday.  He is getting concerned.

He could use some good weather vibes to get past Shasta and over the pass from California & into Ashland tomorrow.

I don't think I deleted anyone from here, at least not intentionally.  I did delete a bunch of people from high school etc who I don't really know and don't know that I need to share with them what I share with my friends

Oh my, we may have freezing drizzle saturday night.  No wonder everyone and their dogs were at the grocery store tonight.  No lie, I've never walked in and only seen 4 carts left.  This is a store where they take the groceries to your car so there are no carts in the lot.   It was amazing.
