Well, you've read the notes, the notes were stuffed and had CRANBERRIES, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're getting ready to eat their fellow creatures and are happy to have a day off from being eaten.

My turkey just went into the oven.  The pies were baked yesterday.  Sweet potato casserole pre-mixed last night.  Dressing ready to put in the oven at the appropriate time.
We're only having sixteen for dinner today.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING ONE AND ALL!

For my Thanksgiving memory, I will give you an excerpt from my book:

I love Thanksgiving. I have very warm childhood memories of that
holiday.  Every year, we would have a family gathering at our home. My
aunt, uncle and two cousins, as well as my half-brother Hersh and his
family were always there.

We’d sit around the table and, after everybody had stuffed themselves,
people would tell jokes. My uncle, Kenneth, was the #1 storyteller,
but on this particular year, I also decided to contribute to the
merriment…with disastrous results.

I think it was 1954. I would have been thirteen-years-old.

Without contemplating the consequences, I told this very funny
joke that I’d heard at school, and I told it very well.

Correction! I didn’t just tell it very well. I told it brilliantly. I had a
captive audience.

Then, I came to the punch line…which ended with the word “f**k”.

My mother, who’d had a few too many drinks in her, started laughing
hysterically. No matter what else you say about her, she was a wonderful
audience.

Unfortunately, everybody else at the table sat in a stunned silence. If
my mother hadn’t been laughing, you could have heard a pin drop.

You see, in 1954, a thirteen-year-old boy did not say
“f**k”...particularly in front of adults.

The first one to speak was my father. Pointing at me, he started
shouting at my mother, “You’re the one who encourages him! This is all
your doing!”

Within two minutes, all of our very embarrassed guests had excused
themselves and left our house.

I don’t recall if I was sent to my room or not, but I know I never
told another joke at Thanksgiving dinner.

I watched the Criterion version of THE NIGHT OF THE HUNTER yesterday.

It is truly one of the great movies.

I was very surprised to learn that Gary Cooper had originally been offered the Mitchum role.

That would have been an interesting piece of casting.

Good morning, all! I stayed in yesterday and spent the afternoon reading the new Kay Thompson biography and watching tv with my beloved sister-in-law JoAnn, After SURVIVOR (yawn!), I called Steven LaBrie, who has asked to be released from the January recording sessions for personal reasons. So, I need to find a new baritone by Dec 1. I think I'll call Patrick Carfizzi first and see what his schedule looks like; if he's out, I'll call Kelly Markgraf. After that, I'll ask our pianist William Hicks for recommendations, but i'm hoping Patrick can do it.

It's a small dinner here today: Jo, me, and my nephew Matt. Mynephew Tim, who's suffering terribly from what the doctors think is Crohn's Disease, may join us. Since Jo is an amazing cook, I kinow it will be one fabulous dinner.

So, I'll check in later to see what everyone's up to.

DR Ginny, buy Rob a car.

Relaxing this morning, watching the Macys Parade ( which also means having to watch a song from MEMPHIS--ugh!)

Ya know, for the kind of show it is and being about the things it's about, it seems to me that AMERICAN IDIOT does an awful lot of selling out and pandering to audiences.

Well just to clear things up a bit:

Sal Mineo signed Bobby Sherman to a personal contract and started a record label for him.....also tried to interest Cameo-Parkway in Mr Sherman.  Mr Sherman lived in Sal's house for quite awhile during this, although by all accounts he encouraged Sal's interest, but only now and then slept with him.

Mr Jay North had auditioned for a part in Sal's production of FORTUNE IN MEN'S EYES and was invited to Sal's house the next day to continue the audition in the bedroom.  He got there - "auditioned" - but was never cast.

This is my problem with this kind of bio.

How does this writer know this is true?

Did Sal tell him?  Did Sherman or North talk about it?

Was the writer or his source in the bedroom when these events supposedly occurred?

Or, did So-and-so tell him before he died?

That number from ELF on the Macys Parade looked pretty generic.  But the Rockettes rocked it!

My most memorable Thanksgiving was in 2008, when I was with my sister following her cancer surgery. All of her rechecks have been good. For that I am very thankful.

Jill Haworth is the source for the Sherman story (corroborated by others)....and Sal's boyfriend Courtney Burr III is the source for the North story.
