Well, I got through my very first Employee Evaluations as a supervisor.  I had the easy part...my former supervisor did the actual evaluations.  I just sat in on them.  Everyone did quite well this year.  I just need to keep notes over the next year so that I know what to evaluate them on next year.

LOL-I was going to say that was a bit soon to be doing them, then I read the full details.

The cast album releases are not recent and none of them have ever been available on CD before - it's really exciting, actually, and one of them, I think, will have people over the moon.  And the other two aren't chopped liver.  I love these UK cast albums - two of them are London productions of US musicals, and one isn't.

Any other hints??

OK, I'm about to brave the cold to run errands - using my very own car!  Rob's home from Michigan for a couple of weeks, so now we're a 2-car/3-people household.

Bye for now!

Nice you will have him home for so long.

Ginny, I think you should begin layer more.  Wear a scarf around your neck, a hat, and gloves.

Yes, DR Jane, I wore all that and still found it too cold for me to be outside.  Fortunately, when I got home, there were 2 helpful guys here to carry the groceries in from the car.

Try wrapping the scarf over your mouth & nose.  Not breathing the cold helps.  If you are still cold there wear two layers of cuddle duds.  Are you wearing a warm vest amongst your layers?

To go out for a walk or hike I can wear six to seven layers plus the scarf, hat & gloves.  One of those layers is a vest, the other a sweatshirt with a hood to pull up over my hat.

I have been doing the "Getting Ready Rag," preparing for tomorrow's grantwriters' meetings.  It will be my last as a board member - YAY!

Great advice, Jane, but I've decided that if I need that much clothing it's probably too cold for me to be outside for any period of time.

Not really because then you will be warm.  My layers on not confining or overly bulky, just warm.  The nice thing about layering is I can remove them as I warm up.

Ooooh!!! 1776, maybe?

Today was cookie making day.  I did rum balls, pressed spritz sugar cookies, and oatmeal chocolate chip.  I also tried a Martha Stewart gingerbread man recipe, but they came out more cake-like than hard cookie-like--too delecate in texture to make gingerbread men that would remain intact until Christmas.  So I made just plain round cookies with the rest of the batter.

All cookies are now wrapped and packed safely away from my sweet tooth...

I'm watching Martha Stewart make cookies now on the Cooking Channel.  Her gingerbread men seem to be the right consistancy.  What did she leave out of the recipe in her magazine?

One type of cookie that my sister and I liked making when we were kids was a stained glass window cookie.  Using a sugar cookie dough, you cut shapes with holes in the center, then dropped colored sugar in the holes when the cookies were on the baking sheet.  The colored sugar melts when baking and makes a "stained glass" in the center.  They were very cool looking (especially when we got creative and made shapes like peace signs.)  Trouble was, no one really wanted to eat them, and if anyone did, they would have to break the cookie away from the stained glass parts, which was usually thrown away.  I guess they are probably only meant for display, like gingerbread houses...
