DR Cillaliz - Glad you enjoyed A Chorus Line.

*DR George - And I believe the same tour will be heading to Olympia.

I was wondering about that...I'll definitely be ushering for it so that I can see the whole thing for free! :D

Hmmm... This could get (more) interesting...

Actress Thora Birch Fired From ‘Dracula’

*And I guess Playbill.com should update their lead story accordingly.

What's interesting is that all the people involved have famous family connections:

Quote
Mr. Birch and Ms. Birch said that he had been her manager for years. Mr. Birch and Ms. Birch’s mother, Carol Connors, were stars in pornographic films in the 1970s.  Ms. Connors is best known for “Deep Throat.”

...

Ms. Birch has been replaced by her understudy, Emily Bridges, whose father is the actor Beau Bridges; Ms. Bridges’s role will be played by Katharine Luckinbill, whose parents are the actors Laurence Luckinbill and Lucie Arnaz.

Wouldn't you know it?

The package from the Warner Archive that I was complaining about yesterday arrived today.

It took 2 weeks...but it's here.

The meeting at Toyland was quite good and I hope things resolve themselves to everyone's satisfaction. It's nice to be home and warm after braving the elements.

Speaking of chocolates, I received a very nice box of Teuscher champagne truffles from our Canadian producer. I think these are about the best chocolates I've ever had. It took an act of sheer will power to share them with friends when they came over. Yummy!

Just finished my tour of duty with TODDLERS AND TIARAS today. I'm really tired. I'm supposed to start on another project here at home but I might just wait until tomorrow.

My other favorite box of chocolates comes from here:

Walpole, NH is where these chocolates, and Ken Burns are based, and I believe he owns stock in this company, too!

Back from Monroe, OH, where I visited the post office and the home of a friend who's a consultant for Longaberger Baskets.  She had a lovely open house and was selling a lot of discontinued items at half price.  She had one of the baskets labeled "Monroe Spirit Basket," because it has accent stripes in blue and yellow.  Of course in came home with me, but it's now a "Michigan Spirit Basket."

I bought tons of candy at Big Lots last night, so tonight I'm going up to Marietta to fill gift bags for my old neighborhood's annual Christmas parade.

So today, our HR manager sent out this e-mail:

Quote
To All:

New Year's Eve Early Closure – The Library Director has indicated that libraries and the Service Center will close at 6:00PM on Friday, 12/31/2010.

This is not paid holiday time so staff who are regularly scheduled to work beyond 6:00PM that evening will need to use vacation time or coordinate with their supervisor to adjust their schedule.

Have a safe holiday!

And then a little later, someone from one of the branches sent this e-mail:

Quote
We'll have no problem getting everyone out by 6:00, since all library branches close by 5:00 on Fridays. =)

;D

So, DR George, administrators a little out of touch with library operations?

Thanks and no.  I put the tunnel photos on FB for a friend and decided to share them here.  The photos from the trail were taken in July near his fourth birthday.

Ballerina Jenifer Ringer....

too skinny, too fat, or just right?

http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_thelookout/20101213/us_yblog_thelookout/sugar-plum-fairy-doesnt-want-apology-from-critic-who-called-her-fat

The critic didn't call her too fat, just said she'd looked like she ate one sugar plum too many, and he also called a male dancer too fat, but no one's making a fuss over that.

But since Ringer has suffered from anorexia in the past, it was a rather cruel thing to say.

I wonder ow many girls are going to develop anorexia once Michele Obama's school program gets going.

I saw the story & think it is cruel to make comments like that anorexia or not.  Supposedly Karen Carpenter developed anorexia after similar comments.

You could be right, while the school program is a step in the right direction it is a long way from reaching the goal of teaching healthy eating habits, IMHO.

When one is still recovering from their hospital stay. One misses a lot.

Mucho belated birthday wishes to DR Jane.

Thank you.  How are you feeling?  I expect it takes awhile to get your strength back after such an experience.

Someone at my library emailed me. I think they found out what happened last week when my reservation went missing.

Apparently YA books are bought be the children's librarian.  The book I wanted was an adult book but it is under the young adult heading. So my reservation was in the adult suggestion box. And the person who got the book's suggestion was in the children's suggestion box.

Sort of a dumb system. The children's librarian said she would try to always check the adult suggestion box from now on so this didn't happen again.  And they will be computerizing suggestions (which they should have done long ago) hopefully soon.

I think it is nice they took the time to figure it out.  At least you know they didn't bump you intentionally.

I have just ordered 2 tickets for RISE, the documentary film about the 1961 US figure skating team that died in a plane crash on their way to the world championships.  One of the tickets is a Christmas present for my mother, who made it clear that all she wants for Christmas is more time with me than she's had in the past several months.

Please tell your mother I say she is very lucky to spend so much time with you.  I wish I had a fraction of that with my children.  It is nice having Craig here if only for a short while.

When the store were fairly new to the States I used to get their Carmel filled milk chocolate candies.  As the prices went up I fortunately tired of them.
