DRs Jane and Cillaliz, I think you would love BECOMING THE MOTHER OF ME. A superb book written by a gal who is in her 90s.

Two books that I am currently reading and am truly enjoying...just haven't had time to sit down and finish either one yet...




Our very own DR Druxy's book is tons of fun. I keep it in my car for reading when I take myself out ot lunch on the weekends...which I have not been doing much of lately, unfortunately. Michael, I can tell you that I have very much enjoyed what I have read thus far!




SHADOWS AND LIGHT is by my facebook buddy, actor/stuntman/film maker Gary Kent (THE THRILL KILLERS, DRACULA VS FRANKENSTEIN, SATAN'S SADISTS). DR JRand, you would love this book!! (PS: if you want an autographed copy of his book just let me know and I will put you in touch with him)

Gary's book is by my bedside for reading before I slip into sleepy land each night...unfortunately, again, I have not had much time to read it as I have not been getting to bed early enough to have time to read.


After the holidays are over I hope to dig into both books, nonstop!

I took a little time off from review duties last night to watch CATFISH, a screener I had been sent that I don't need to review.  It's a fascinating documentary (though some are still insisting it's a mockumentary, which I don't believe) about the "consequences" of Facebook.  I highly recommend it--it's disturbing, but it's extremely compelling.

Trip to Greenville SC was enjoyable.  Went shopping and buying.  Walked and walked and walked.

Had lunch at a cafeteria where we (my Mom and my Aunt Doris) were joined by my cousin Ashley.  Before we left, Ashley's husband, David, joined us for a few minutes.  Ashley is a fave...daughter of my cousin Butch (firstborn of my Aunt Doris).

Shopped some more.  Did some sightseeing of familiar places from our past.  Visited one of my Mom's friends for a brief spell.

Last night, my Mom and I were invited to my aunt's house for vegetable soup which my Uncle Rock had been making/doctoring all day.  It was very good (had two full bowls plus two chunks of corn bread).

Afterward, my Mom, my aunt and I played Skipbo.  I won two of four hands.

This morning at 2:41 a.m., we had a full eclipse of the moon (a full moon).  It's rather rare...and the last one to be seen here for the next 200 years or so.  "We" did not get up, but we enjoyed the full moon...a true "Carolina Moon!"

MBarnum - after you recommeded it, I bought and really loved Becoming the Mother of Me.  I gave it to my mother to read and she enjoyed it as well

Once again they are predicting snow this week.  So once again I am trying to figure out my travel plans.  I wasn't going to move them up, but after Thanksgiving alone, I'm thinking that I  may just go early and take some work with me.  I have a brief that absolutely has to be done by the Monday after Christmas. I was going to write it tomorrow, but if I wait until Thursday, travel may be difficult.   The house/cat sitter is available either time, so we'll see.....

I'm up - awakened by a telephonic call from paypal saying that money had finally been put into my account from that jerk seller.  They would or could not tell me if it had actually cleared from his bank or if buyer protection had kicked in - if it's the latter, which I suspect, I hope they ban this guy from eBay AND paypal.

We baked Ghirardelli Chocolate Chip cookies last night as we watched a marathon of first season MODERN FAMILY episodes on the BD set.  What a wonderful show that is--easily our "new" favorite.

In other news...

I shall be heading down to Virginia this afternoon for the Christmas Holiday. I'm still not exactly sure which days we'll be in Fairfax and which days we'll be in Richmond, but I do hope that the forecast for a White Christmas in the Old Dominion comes "true". -Even it turns out to be just a couple of flurries on Christmas morning.

My favorite books of 2010 (I read them all in 2010 but only the latter actually came out this year) is THE HUNGER GAMES series (THE HUNGER GAMES, CATCHING FIRE, and MOCKINGJAY).
