The pouring rain just hit us about thirty minutes ago - huge buckets of rain - and now the sun has broken through in the west.  It's still raining, mind you, but the sun is coming through my window and it's stupid.  One thing or the other, that's what I say.

The sun isn't making it to the yard, though - out there is slate gray and pouring.

It has been gray all day here, but no rain today. A small amount last night.

And the word of the day is: CALIGINOUS!

Wasn't Malcolm McDowell in CALIGINOUS?

Allergies are killing me what with 6 cats and a huge dog and family who chainsmoke. I am going to have to figure out a solution to that to be able to sleep here 2 or 3 nights a week.

Buy a small air purifier to put next to your bed.

Greg said that a package arrived today from Larry. He didn't open it but I'm betting it's something yummy!

Hopefully it isn't ice cream.

DR Jane - Make sure that your DS Craig tells the gate agents that it's his birthday. He may get an upgrade. Or at least an extra bag of peanuts or cookies! At the very least, the full can of Coke!

Craig returned safely home from Olympic last night, happy to be home and very pleased with his interview.

Bryan is on his way to Salt Lake City & then, if all goes well, to Medford and us.  The airlines never did anything special for Bryan on his birthday in the good old days of flying so I doubt they would give him anything at all today ;D

I don't think Craig considered flying to Romania.  His wife doesn't want to live in the States anymore  and wants to stay in Romania.  Craig wont live there again.

The big dog here,  a great pyrenese, is moping around. Her friend, the other dog, disappeared 2weeks ago and now she can't understand why mom's not here.

Poor baby!  And poor you!!!  I'll keep reading to see how your father is doing.

And it's well past time to quit sending gifts to his adult children, too.

The adult ones don't get presents from me. Once they turn 18 that is it.

Guess we're heading to Phoenix for a few days at the first of the year.  The DP has been and I have not.  We are going to get away and to visit a friend of his.  Anything exciting there I shouldn't miss?

They have no necks, and they are slippery.

That is the title of my next Dummies book on going to your first prom.

Laura.

I'm still trying to think of something interesting to see in Phoenix. Can't come up with anything.

Gingerbread dough is chilling, dishwasher is running, some desk work is done, and I'm about to get ready for my 11am haircut appointment.

My shoulder has been worse making it impossible to do anything with my hair.  This afternoon I went to my hairdresser and had her trim my bangs again & make my hair look pretty.  Now I'm all set until after Christmas.

If your brother insists, tell him that he should get her something and say it was from you...and to pay for it with whatever money he was going to spend on YOU! ;)

I so wish I had thought of that when I was on the phone last night! LOL!

How are you feeling Larry? Is the cold slowly working itself out?

DR Ben, I thought things were improving, but I talked on the phone to JoAnn about 15 minutes ago, and I started whooping and coughing up a blue streak. Who knows?

Is your cough loose or is your chest tight?  If tight then use a warm humidifier at night.  Either way prop up your pillows at night and drink lots of liquids.

I've been to the library and I got back to discover a gift sitting at my door that put me into a fantastic holiday mood. At first I thought it was a wrong item delivered by mistake, but after reading the invoice and gift message, I found the holiday spirit and good cheer I've been missing the past week. This gift, and having money in the bank again for a change, are great restorers of my faith in humanity and the value of friendship. I am very moved today by turns of events.

And no one deserves it more than you do, Larry.

I NEED a haircut. Depending on how I feel tomorrow I may go out and get one. I don't think I can afford to have Yuri come to the apartment and do it. We shall see.

How many years have you gone to Yuri?  Ask the price he might not charge you knowing you can't go out.

I think I've been going to Yuri for almost 15 years. Maybe I'll give him a call tomorrow.

Michael, you owe your brother's ex-fiance's daughter absolutely NOTHING. Don't even think of buying her a present, especially since they don't seem to know you exist.

I think that people should buy gifts for who they want to buy gifts for.  The only thing I can think of in your brother's favor would be if you knew all the kids well. And if that third child lives with the others and sees they got presents from you but she didn't.

My friend Fred Barton posted an explanation for the "human error" that nearly killed Christopher Tierney on Monday at SPIDERMAN:
"Tierney was wearing a harness and a tether that was supposed to prevent him from free-falling, but “someone missed their cue and forgot to anchor the tether,” according to a production person who worked on Monday’s performance." (Wall Street Journal.)

In other words, the irresponsible production had no check and balance for such matters as a temporary memory lapse. When you're playing with human lives, that's really irresponsble. I hope this shuts the damend show down.

And we'd find the slim volume in the adult section of the bookstore next to the adult toys?

Sorry to hear about your daughter not being able to make it to LA, bk.

So am I.  Get yourself a webcam & Skype or Google with her.  Does your laptop have a built in webcam?
