As for the Topic of the Day...

The Merchant of Venice at Shakespeare in the Park this past summer. It was great getting to see Al Pacino on stage, but Lily Rabe truly made the play for me.

I beg your indulgence, but I earlier stated that Christmas 1951 was the earliest "documented" (photowise) Christmas I had, but there is actually a photo from the year before...when I was 2 years old:

This was the Christmas when I received the yellow chair!

DR Ron Pulliam - Thanks for posting those memories!

*Didn't you get a digital camera for your mom last year? If so, how's that working out for her?

I have been scanning photos and scanning photos.  I'm gonna have to buy a flash drive to get them home.  I've downloaded a bunch to photobucket, but it's far too time-consuming.  I need to scan and scan and scan just to finish the batch of photos I pulled from the boxes of photos I went through.

I sent my mom a scanner/printer a few years back when her printer tanked.

She's really enjoying it.  I got her one and me one.  I'm enjoying mine, too, although not taking as many photos as in years past.  Will be more actively shooting tomorrow night and Saturday, I reckon.

For DR vixmom when she drops in again:  That picture above of my Christmas in 1950 when I was 2 -- note, please, the snarky look on my face.

I guess it started then.

TOD -  I think the only shows in which I sat in a theatre seat and watched this year was Chicago and Wicked and they were really great.  As for shows that I had a part in that were great experiences this year were probably Sunset Blvd and La Cage Aux Folles

Hello, DR Edi!  How are you today?  Fr. Richard asked me to find out your step-mom's first name so that he can include her in the liturgy at Holy Nativity.  Would you mind sharing it?

Sorry not to be able to spend more time here; I came back from Blue Ridge last night and am going up tomorrow, so I basically figured I had this one day to xmas shop and cook. But this morning we learned that Greg's mother was taken to the E.R. and so he's down there right now. She has pneumonia and a UTI and we're just hoping she'll be able to make it through. They had done a swallow test and determined that she could have no more food by mouth, just her feeding tube...this was after we had done a lot of work for her to be able to eat solid food, so I think she was very discouraged by the news. The last time she was in this shape she was placed in hospice but then was able to leave and go to assisted living.

I'm trying to edit together a memorial tribute for my step-mother's service on Tuesday night, so all I want for Christmas are VIBES VIBES VIBES. Love and happy holidays to all our HHW friends!

So, I guess Fr. Richard now needs 2 first names, DR Edi.  Sorry to hear about Greg's Mom's set-back.

Richard is out and about, duplicating the bulletins for tomorrow evening's service and picking up our Honey Baked ham and turkey.  I have cinnamon pecan coffee cakes in the oven and have worked through my stack of recipes so that the next one up is for next Monday.  My only kitchen tasks left are to decorate the shortbread cut-outs, prepare plates of cookies for my Mom and my Aunt, and pack up the foodstuffs that we're taking to Lima for the weekend.

Of course, I would have wished Craig Brockman a happy haineshisway.com birthday if only his birthday were noted on the fancy-shmancy haineshisway.com birthday calendar.
