Elmore, we must come from the same family to love "The Ref" as much as we do.

I felt the waving of a magic wand, and so I had to stop in to wish one and all a Merry Christmas.

And some greetings from the wildlife:

There was a crush of wines at lunch today: a 2002 Bernard Halle Champagne, a 2000 Clos du Tart Burgundy and a 1996 Christian Moreau Chablis. Belon oysters, fried smelts, bagels with a schmear and lox, everything was wonderful. All of which means I need a nap before services tonight.

I am currently watching 1988's PUSS N' BOOTS starring Christopher Walken as Puss.  Currently Mr. Walken is singing.

Did the quick jog - it's kind of like a nice late-summer day outside.  Sauce is simmering and everything else is ready and there's nothing for me to do now except relax and wait until the guests arrive.  I hope there are at least a few - I think I made more sauce than I ever have.

I started my 10-1/2 days of vacation yesterday at noon.   It's beautiful and sunny outside yesterday and today.  What a great way to start.  Laundry is done, car is covered, time for a movie and maybe a nap.   Then it's baking to be done (tomorrow is time spent going to all my neighbors to deliver very light cookies) and maybe 7pm Xmas eve service at the historic spiritual center on the corner.

Have a great evening, stay warm and cozy. ;)

We've had 4 1/2-5 inches of snow.  It's beautiful

Well, after 8 years, Woody has gotton over his "wonderment" at snow. He was appropriately annoyed at last weeks blizzard (a walloping 2 inches) that kept the car prisoner in the drive for two days. The streets were cleaned promptly but the ice patch at the top of the driveway hill was impassable for a few days. (To escape from our drive, you need to roar up a steep hill and do a controlled right turn onto the road; if you turn a bit too tight, you clip our retaining wall, if you turn too wide, you wipe out the neighbor across the street's mail box; and, because the car has front wheel drive, you lose traction when the car is trying to crest the hill - little weight on the front wheels .)

It has been eight years already, wow!

Afternoon all.

We are on Long Island after an uneventful train trip.

I had some chicken with rice and then took my meds and a nap.

I feel good and it's very nice to be out here for a few days.

Uneventful is excellent/ :)

Well, off to the candlelight service!

Our church (back when it was St. Cecelia's) used to have a midnight candlelight mass.  It was always a packed house and you had to get there early to make sure you got a good seat and decent parking.  For some reason, they did away with it.  Now I go to 4:30 PM Christmas mass on Christmas Eve.

Sauce is simmering away and starting to taste good.  Tuna Pasta salad has had the final touches put on.  Table is ready.  I've shaved and am about to shower, and have listened to about seven CDs today.
