I've just watched the first episode of WIVES AND DAUGHTERS and I like it very much. Francesca Annis is the stepmother from hell, and it's interesting getting the little bits of information on the characters that you know will lead by the end to huge revelations and scandal. I will watch the second part and go to bed. Tomorrow I'll watch parts 3 & 4.

You can accept cash in lieu of the house.  I wonder if they'd let you have a week there before accepting the cash

I know what you mean.  I'd like to take a small vacation in it before selling it off.

Yes, Cilla, the majority of the books are from Gutenberg. There are lots of old books that I either never read or didn't want to read years ago and now that they are available on Gutenberg I thought I would give them a shot. Les Mis, The Picture of Dorian Grey, My Man Jeeves and lots of other goodies. I download them in e-pub format and transfer them to the Reader and away I go.

I think I am glad I don't have a MAC.  I do enjoy finding photos to share.

That's what I plan to do. Just haven't had a chance.

I wonder if I can get "Silver Blade" downloaded.  I'll have to see.  I want to find something short to test reading the Nook in bed while Keith sleeps.  Getting the book cover made it easier for me to hold.  I might have to switch it from the right side of the cover to the left while I'm reading, putting the weight on my left arm instead of my right.

I'm listening to music on my e-reader. It's pretty good. I don't know how many mp3s I can fit on the device but it will be nice on the train to read or listen to music. Now I really want a cover so I can carry it around with me.

The impromptu party was so much fun - just the perfect thing to have done.  We had Illona Simon and husband, we had Doug Haverty and wife, we had Simply Sondheim's Jim Brewer and his ever-lovin' Amy Dondy who, after twenty years of togetherness, finally hitched the wagon last week, and we had my friend Debby.  I couldn't believe it but the entire pound and a half of wacky noodles went - not even a single noodle left.  That was great, since I would have eaten any leftovers.  All the rolls were eaten, and Illona's homemade brownies were pretty well decimated, too.  Everyone has toddled off into the good night, and I haven't had such a nice January 1st in years.  I wrote, I cooked, I had an impromptu party with nice folks.

Walked downtown today to have lunch and was quite surpised to find that almost every restaurant was closed! On a Saturday!!

So, didn't have lunch at India Palace as I had planned (I had even toted along my latest issue of Filmfare to read whilst eating), but found Golden Crown (the Chinese place next to J C Penney) was open and ate there instead...had lots of leftovers, which I ate for dinner.

Took a looooooooooooooooooooooooong nap (why I was so tired is beyond me!) and watched more Netflix streaming movies...first was my dear friend Jackie Loughery's film HOT ANGEL which co-starred Ed Kemmer. It was something about planes and motorcycles and delinquents and stuff, but I am still not sure.

This still from the movie makes it all seem like some sort of bizarre dream. And yet I know it was real.

Now I am watching TOKYO AFTER DARK (1959) starring Michi Kobi and Richard Long.

Have always wanted to see this film...and so far, so good.

Here we find the film's two stars studying their script.

I am addicted to HOUSE HUNTERS on HGTV.  I want every house I saw today on the million dollar episode.  :)

Jose - full bottle, cork top - since there are a handful of folks coming over in a while, I'm hoping they'll finish it off.

Did you place the handle of a silver spoon in it to retain the bubbles?

Jose, congrats on the gig. I can fit into one of those "A Night at the Opera" trunks if you could find someone to wheel it aboard ship. Just volunteering. You think about it awhile.

I guess I'll actually finish the movie I'm watching.  I wrote a couple more pages for a total of close to eleven - I'm sure I'll be futzing with them tomorrow, but I'm very pleased to have gotten that many done - I'll actually probably finish chapter one tomorrow.

That's the fun thing about the Hofstetter books - short chapters, with chapter one always being one of the longest, but even that isn't too long.

Jose, congrats on your gig. I've always wanted to take a cruise. It seems so much more civilized than flying nowadays.

Thanks, Ben. And, yes, cruising is quite civilized. ;)
