Favorite love songs:

"Begin the Beguine" (or is that just a smoldering sex song?)
"Ta Luv" from "The Good Companions"
"It's Time for a Love Song"
"All the Things You Are"
"Dance a Little Closer"
"Hungry Heart" from Springsteen

Mucous continues to break up and while breaking up is hard to do, it's most welcome in this case.  Awaiting the helper, who should be here momentarily.

I have no Valentine's Day memories worth discussing; love and I were never compatable friends. Still, I am listening today to a compilation of love songs, good, bad, funny, tragic, and pathetic. What are your favorite love songs?

Here are a few of mine:
  She Touched Me
  Four Strong Winds
If I Gave You (from "High Spirits")
Where Do I Go From Here?
Imagining You (from "Birds of Paradise")
The room Is Filled With You (from "Colette Collage")

"If We Only Have Love," sung by Laurie Beechman and her sister Claudia.

Ben, I know DR Elmore asked this a few days ago, but I never saw an answer: Will someone post on Wednesday how the operation goes?

I thought I asked ;)

Depending on how it goes I may post something myself on Wednesday (doubtful) but Anthony will call Larry at some time on Wednesday after the surgery. I don't know what time the procedure is happening yet, I find out tomorrow afternoon, so it could be later in the day but I think that's what will happen.

Larry, I assume you don't mind that Anthony will call you sometime on Wednesday, correct?

I'm sure I'll be up and about by Thursday and I can tell you all the gory details then.

I won't be expecting you to post on Wednesday.  Wishes being a scheduled surgery instead of an emergency your recovery will be much faster!

We watched MY SISTER EILEEN last night with Betty Garrett.

She was such a great performer.  She stole every scene she was in.

So true!

TOD:

I have no particularly special Valentine's Day memories, although as a kid I sure did love to pick out the box of Valentine's day cards that I would then fill out and deliver to everyone in my grade school class.

I bet you did! :D Your cards are always extra special!

My Valentine Memories

I remember being chosen to be the MailMan in the second grade and delivering all of the Valentines to the desks of my fellow students.  I had a MailMan hat and everything.

The End.

:D  Do you have a photo?  You must have been very cute & pleased about it. :)

A love song I co-wrote has found its way to a greeting card site, which is fun.

After months and months my pool has now reopened the main pool again.

Today was the first time I had been in it (it's been closed for the 3 months i've been going). Now there are 2 big pools back to back (one with all deep water). And they have half of each pool closed off for swimming. The other half is for adult walk. It was great!

DR Jane re: you facebook comment: "I just read "Facebook made a change. You only see posts from people you interact with regularly."  Does anyone know if this is true?"

DR Cillaliz answered you. But I believe it's been this way for a while(at least it has for me). There are 2 options for your news feed "top news" and "most recent news". If you choose the first you won't see everything. If you choose the latter you will (i always choose the latter).

And in "most recent news" there are 2 settings "friends you interact with the  most" and "all of your friends". You can see the edit settng if youclick on "my recent news".

From the beginning of the "top news" & "most recent" I've noticed if I don't check them both I miss something.

I still haven't gone in to check the settings & make sure it shows "all my friends".  I do notice posts from occasional posters so I'm not sure if I have a problem.  I've also been thinking about removing people who rarely comment or post, unless they are close friends.  Before I do so I had better make sure FB simply hasn't been letting me see their posts.

Congrats to THE KING'S SPEECH for its many BAFTA wins last night!

Yes, but....

The film  won awards as Outstanding British Film, Best Film, Best Screenplay, and Best Film Music , all accomplished without benefit of an award winning director!

Also, although Desplat's original music was superb: the musical highlights of the film were Beethoven's, almost one third of the soundtrackalbum is Beethoven and the awards orchestra played Beethoven for the crews' walk-on music.

Geez - you rich kids had it easy; I had to hand make all my Valentines. In Second grade, we spent the frist two weeks of February making a Valentine card for Mother; a hand painted, embroidered card no less!

I suspect making an eight year old boy embroider had lasting physic effects.

I think it is great you embroidered a card for you mother.  Do you still have the card?  I remember making a few cards for my mother.  I did them at home though, not at school.

My first really special valentine card was a store bought one from my boyfriend in fourth or fifth grade.  I know who the boyfriend was, just not sure of the grade.  It was a long time ago.

Shortly I'll head over to the mail place and see what's there, and then I have to do just one other errand, after which I'll be through for the day.

When I was in elementary school, Mom would make cookie Valentines for me to take to the rest of the class. They were beautiful and had a cookie at the center of each cookie card "pasted" on with raspberry jam. In first grade, though, I forgot one of the four Johns in the class and had to surrender my own cookie. Boy, was I mad. Those cookies are still my favorites.
