DR JRand, it must have been the hussy role in ATTACK OF THE 50 FT WOMAN that they wanted Jewell to play. I think I just presumed it was the Nancy Archer role. Either way, I need to remember to ask Jewell if she knew Allison at all.

Respighi was secretly an American. The pines of Rome were really in Rome, North Carolina.

George, did PBS ever release a DVD of that "Cradle Will Rock" performance you mentioned last night. I never saw it when it originally aired.

Something rather odd struck me this morning:  THE PINES OF ROME started playing on Sirius XM and I was struck by how positively Coplandesque that opening brass theme is.

Or, is it possible that Copland, 21 years his junior, was more Respighiesque?

Thanks to all and sundry for the vibes and good wishes.  We shall see what we shall see.....  I would probably play another role - if Shelly asked me to.....if there are some FUN people backstage.

DR JOHN G - the complete two seasons of THE MOTHERS IN LAW is available on Amazon.com - I got it on a special deal last year when it was $9.99......but even now it's only $21.99.

DR JMK - several of the episodes of Lucy's radio show are featured on the official HERE'S LUCY DVD sets.

TOD:

PANIC IN NEEDLE PARK
THE GODFATHER I & II
SERPICO
DOG DAY AFTERNOON

Another Pacino movie I recall liking--AUTHOR! AUTHOR!.  Not so much for his performance or even for the movie, itself, but because there are a lot of NY theatre people of the time in it and a lot of NYC locations.

Have shipped everything we could, until more boxes arrive tomorrow.  Black Sunday will be gone by two or three today so if you are waiting, don't.

Not that I know of...and I don't think it was available on VHS, either.  I recorded it and still have my videocassette tape.

DR Jane re: your question from yesterday.

I had walked in and placed my bag on my chair. I was standing about a foot in front of the chair making sure my niece was okay sitting on the floor.

I think I will watch THE YOUNG PHILADELPHIANS on TCM in a half hour or so.

I seem to remember that I really liked Mr Paul Newman and Mr Robert Vaughan in this movie.
