Somebody was writing about Norman Lloyd yesterday, I think. Everything is as hazy as my eyes right now.

He directed the TV version of "Philemon."

What a great morning! My Birding Buddy and I walked on a very birdy road. I took lots of bad photos of great birds (so we could identify them later).

We still have one mystery bird, but I sent a photo to a bird expert to see if he knows what it is.

I saw a mystery bird last week.   I was passing a car that obviously didn't see me...or didn't like that I was passing...and the driver flipped me off.

Why, I could not say.  I was doing the speed limit, I didn't blow my horn, and I had no clue as to how she could have been pissed off at me.

But that mystery bird flew all the same.

Last night, there were 12 of us dining on crown roast of pork stuffed with macaroni and cheese, a ham, purple cauliflower, a just-picked garden salad, plenty of snacks, homemade Kalamata olive bread and who knows what all else. What was missing was the asparagus, which I forgot to prepare. Guess I'll be eating two pounds of it over the next few days.

Desserts were a blueberry pie with whipped cream and an apple cake with rum sauce.

It all sounds good, except for the pork & ham.  I hope you can eat that many asparagus, which I could help you out.

LOL DR Ron.  I almost saw a lady get hit by a car today.  The driver deserved what you got today only the lady was a lady.

You could probably find the mystery bird in a book called "Field Guide to the North American Bird."

This is a real book. ;D

My father had a granite replica of the picture George posted, emblazoned with the caption:  Complaint department, one flight up.  :)

The Angelinos on this board won't have far to travel to get up close and personal disinformation about Miss Frances Farmer:  KCET has sold its land to the Church of Scientology.

Has anyone ever ridden on an electric bicycle?  After watching TAR last night I'm thinking it would be fun to have one.

I've always wanted to try one of these. I think it would be so cool. Especially helpfull when it is very windy.

The paper has finally been submitted. Spent the last six hours doing corrections and rereading it and doing more corrections. I can actually take a few days off!

Congrats, John!

George's photo, Jane?

What's really funny is that a few years ago, the library's non-fiction selector actually ordered "Field Guide to the North American Bird," thinking that it was a guide to actual birds and not "the bird."  We ordered them from a vendor that preprocesses books for us, so they had our barcodes and property stamps already on them.  We couldn't return them.  I don't remember what they did with them, but they didn't add them to the library's collection.

The bird was in bad light. No response from the ornithologist yet.

Maybe for identifying the bird, as an artistic photo it is very nice. :)

Back from an impromptu meeting with an editor friend.  Something is in the air, I think - something that might just be a lot of fun.

Well, we just got an official e-mail saying that the candidate who was offered the collection manager job (my supervisor) has turned it down.  "Although we found an outstanding candidate, her current employer offered her more money to stay and she turned down our job offer."  The position was originally announced in early February and it's now late April.  Who knows how long it'll take to do this all over again.

And if they do it too soon, they might just get some of the same candidates that they didn't want in the first place, but then if they didn't get an interview the first time, I don't know if they'd bother with applying again.  We had the same problem with the director position late last year. :-\
