I've been falling all my life and never broke anything until a few years back.  Now it seems if i fall i'm guaranteed to break.

Today i fractured my right wrist in several places.  the good news is it was the good kind that doesn't require surgery.  i see my orthopedist on tuesday as he was once again the doctor on call at emergency.

my face doesn't look too great either.  my left knee is hurting & i'm limping.  the right side of my upper body from front to back is sore.  i'm pleased to say i was able to walk myself back down the trail to meet keith at the car, after a few wobbly starts and stops to rest.

i'm in a splint from fingers to just below my wrist.  as i continue to swell my fingers and hand hurt more.  i need to go find a more comfortable position than at the computer.  i keep reminding myself this is a piece of cake compared to my shoulder.

Good Evening!

And about 24-hours from now, the curtain should be falling on the first performance/preview of Follies at The Kennedy Center.

DRs Ben and FJL - Just a friendly reminder: Tomorrow's curtain at the Kennedy Center is 7:30pm. (Not 8:00pm).

Friday is a work day.

Last night at rehearsal I told a bunch of little girls to shut up and listen to the director, and they just laughed....although they did shut up.

I HATE HATE HATE working in shows with children who don't really care about being in a show and know nothing and listen to nothing and are generally useless.  They run around the theater during rehearsal and always have to ask ONCE AGAIN where they are supposed to be and WHAT are we doing.....HATE HATE HATE.  And the NEVER shut up.

I now remember why I never audition for big musicals.

There ARE three children out of the group to whom the above does NOT apply.

Jack, my friend Sharry and I often discuss the same things.  Both of us have been doing theater for over half a century, but times have really changed.  When I was young, if I got cast in a main stage production, I was so grateful to be in the show that I didn't even sneeze unless I asked the director first.

Now, it is a question of entitlement.  Young people in theater feel that they shouldn't have to start out in the chorus or in the small speaking parts.  They expect to be cast in the prime ingenue roles from day one; and if they don't get that role, then they don't want the role.  As a result you end up with young people who have no desire to be at rehearsals and feel that there is no reason why they pay attention to anyone.

In other news...

I spent most of today in studio 407 at Pearl Studios playing auditions for the National Asian Artists Project or NAAP for short. We had a very good turnout, although, I will admit that by 5:00, my energy - and patience - was starting to flag. However, it was great getting to spend the day with the always-amazing and energetic Baayork Lee.

I was supposed to go see Patsy Cline tonight..................... ah, but she died.

Actually this is the musical ALWAYS, PATSY CLINE, but my friend Betzy is stuck working this evening, so we have to postpone until next week.

DR JohnG - What type of diabetes do you have? -If you don't mind sharing that information here on the board. Is it possible that it could be regulated down the line via diet and exercise?

And while I enjoyed Arthur Laurents' work, I know of a particularly cruel casting couch episode that never made me fond of the man.

Pavilion...

Vermilion...

Okay, there's a show tune with the word vermilion but it keeps slipping out of my grasp.  What is it?

A ninety-three year old man's death would be shocking if he were found wearing an Esther Williams bathing suit.

I believe that was J. Edgar.

I'm back from Dayton, having opted out of the optional lunch after the seminar.  They were going to BW3 and I decided that sounded like someplace I didn't need to eat.  I did an errand and came on home to eat a heart-healthy lunch.

Back from a nice visit to the Colony Theater, where we'll be recording Jason Graae's Jerry Herman show.  All details are known and it should be fun.

BW3?

BW3 = Buffalo Wild Wings and Weck. -Although the "and Weck" part is not part of the chain's National branding.

Well, a second blessing has come my way today (I see the insulin as one). I got the job that I interviewed for a few months ago. I'm starting on a temporary basis of three months, but if it works out, it could be permanent. It's with USAA, which is headquartered here.

Congratulations!
