Bad times in Minneapolis also. I just heard from my sister. Her house was hit but not destroyed. Some of the siding was torn off and a tree fell in the front yard, hitting the house and putting a hole in it. They have no power and it will probably be out for 2 or 3 days. It happened around 2pm. Luckily, the insurance will take care of things but no power, a curfew (if you don't live in the neighborhood with verifiable ID you will be arrested) and no way to get around (the streets are littered with 50 or 60 year old huge trees). She can't go into work tomorrow and the police are on patrol to stop looting.

Here is a link to the Star-Tribune, the city paper with some pictures of the mess

Finally went to the beach today, stuck my feet in the sand and water, collected sand dollars, it was nice.

Main Street here has a doggie (and other pets) ice cream / cookie / cake store.  Serving pets only, they also offer babysitting for your pet while you go shopping.  8)

Just got in from a fun evening.  First off was the Flash Mob in the middle of the 6:00pm Mass at church today which consisted of the Finale from the "Godspell" movie, using a Karaoke track - which was awesome.  Then it was into SF to attend a Cabaret show done by an old student of mine.  I've known her for 19 years now - since she was 8 I think... and she really has come into her own on the cabaret scene in SF.  This was my first opportunity to see her, and she didn't disappoint.  She did a show dedicated to Freddie Mercury, complete with a 4 piece band.  It was phenomenal.  Her name is Carly Ozard, look her up if you are interested.
