Well, you've read the notes, the notes were scintillating and serene, and now it is time for you to post until the serene cows come home.

Good morning, all! The world didn't end, a lot of folk have egg on ther faces, DR cillaliz has removed her hat, and the world goes round. I dreamed last night that BK was stepping in to produce one session of the Herbert songs because our producer Judy was unavalable. RebeccaLiker and Patrick Carfizzi were also in my dream, and we seemed to be recording in a high school gymnasium.

DR MBarnum, while I do pray daily for God to repair your deficiences, curb your erotomania, and get you laid, my life would be so much sadder if I could not be daily shocked by one of your grammatical, intellectual, or tasteful lapses. I wasn't praying for you to be one of the chosen, because I would miss you. How much duller my life would be!

Today, I overslept by thirty minutes, and I wasn't put of bed until 6:30. I am off to Toyland to harmonize a carol "People, Look East" at the piano, copy out the final lead sheet, and cart everything back here for tomorrow's rehearsal, wich is at 96th Street.

I'll check in from Toyland.

Sunday morning greetings!  I am not on my way to Lima today, because I have a dispensation from the Vicar.  My mother wanted to go on a seniors bus trip to Columbus for some vaudeville-type show and couldn't get any of her friends to go along.  I don't know anything about the company, but will post details upon return this evening.

My cousin Caroline from Birmingham, Alabama, was in town for a convention and we got together for a few hours. It' was fun. Haven't seen her or anyone else from Dad's side of the family for 12 years. I showed her around a tiny bit, we had a wonderful seafood dinner and then went to see the Symphony because there was an extra ticket. All in all quite pleasant.

I watched KILL THE IRISHMAN last night, ostensibly the true story of Cleveland mobster Danny Greene.

It was an entertaining gangster movie, but not great.  Too much plot and not enough characterization and texture.

For all those in NYC....

Have you been following the musicians union protesting at the Palace Theater over the canned music used in Priscilla? The producers said that if they lose they will hire the musician but they will "sit on the hands".

It says it doesn't matter whether i take my meds with food. But I wonder if it would make a difference. I have been taking them without food and they are making me so tired. But they are not supposed to. Maybe they are going through my system differently because my stomach is empty?

Jennifer, I think you are tired because you are sick. I take the same thing when I get sick. It's a standard old antibiotic.

And, yes, this is a different theater than the one with Lilah and her friends.

For all those in NYC....

Have you been following the musicians union protesting at the Palace Theater over the canned music used in Priscilla? The producers said that if they lose they will hire the musician but they will "sit on the hands".

DR Michael S - First of all, the Priscilla situation is not, in the bigger picture, just an NYC issue.

As for my thoughts on the issue, well...

I think the AFM needs to focus more on the revivals that come in using greatly reduced orchestrations and orchestras. If the AFM wins this case, and the producers are able to hire "walkers" - which were eliminated in the last big contract negotiation, that will surely just open up another can of worms by making the hiring of "walkers" a possibility again.

I think the reason so much attention is being paid to Priscilla is because it's at The Palace and that's where the revival of West Side Story played - and that was the production that invoked it's "cut list" after opening. -And the "cut list" is something the AFM somehow approved in the first place. ???

Now, if the AFM does win, I wonder if they'll try to get Mamma Mia! to do the same thing. Mamma Mia! is in the Winter Garden. It was granted a dispensation to use a less musicians than the required minimum... And there are a lot of horn and string samples in the Keyboard 3 and 4 books.

Oh...

I just received a very brief email from DR FJL...

He's still in DC. Alas, he's not been able to log on to HHW via the hotel's internet system.

That is/was all.
