The folks at HHW always suggest so many good films! I think my Netflix queue will soon be at the breaking point again and I'll get one of those little messages.

I think DR Ben has some very fine viewing ahead of him this weekend. DUCHESS OF DUKE STREET is an old favorite of mine--I've watched it countless times--but I wonder if it's more of a woman's film. Ben, I'd be interested in your (and others) feedback on this. It resonates very strongly with me; I wonder how others take to it.

DR Ben, Academy was a bust today: no Arabesque recordings of G&S. I've not been there in so long that it took me a while to locate things.

I went to the post office this morning and sent packages (finally!) for DRs TCB and JohnG.!

Please let me know if when you get them and if everything's okay...meaning, if anything is damaged, which I sincerely hope will not be the case. :-\

Otherwise, ENJOY! :D

A little face is peering through the window.

Who was it?

Why, it's Wae-Ling. Her daddy said she could spend ALL DAY here again today.

Her Daddy is very generous with your time ;D

I've been looking up Old Maid songs for one of the characters in our show. We've got the holiday side of things covered very well, but I think we need a few character moments. I just sent the director lyrics for two comic songs, "Poor Old Maid" and "Old Maid's Song," and a sad one, "The Wagoner's Lad." I think the married coal mining couple need something, too, but I'll wait to get through this round and see what happens. My favorites:

POOR OLD MAID
 (from Virginia)
Here I am, as you can see, poor old maid
All the way from Kankakee, poor old maid
My disposition's very mild
I'm just as meek as a little child
And for a husband I am wild, poor old maid

My younger sisters all are wed, poor old maid
I live at home, I'm nearly dead, poor old maid
I pull my nightcap o'er my head
No loving words to me are said
Alone at night I go to bed, poor old maid

I dreamed a dream the other night, poor old maid
Oh that dream was out of sight, poor old maid
I dreamed a man my window scaled
His moustache brushed my cheek so pale
I woke and found it was the tomcat's tail, poor old maid!

THE WAGONER'S LAD
   (Eastern Kentucky)
O hard is the fortune of all womankind
We're always controlled and we're always confined
Controlled by our families until we are wives
Then slaves to our husbands the rest of our lives.

O bury me beneath the willow
    Beneath the weeping willow tree
And if he comes he'll find me sleeping
And perhaps he'll weep for me.

I am a poor girl, my fortune is bad
One time I was courted by the wagoner's lad
We courted a while and I gave him my heart
But as we grew older, we drifted apart.

O bury me beneath the willow
    Beneath the weeping willow tree
And if he comes he'll find me sleeping
And perhaps he'll weep for me.

Did anybody see the American Idol finale last night? There were  a lot of big stars performing. I think the most noteable was Lady Gaga. I thought what she did was quite interesting. But totally inappropriate for American Idol. They have such a young fanbase. And her performance was 18+.  I am shocked that they would show something like that knowing how young their fans are.

Oh, Jennifer -- it's Fox....NEVER be shocked at any and all lapses of taste or discretion on that network's part.

Today is Grease!day and our first two performances were great.  One more tonight.  I'm very proud of the kids.

As for the TOD, I know of nothing.

Just did a little shopping at Trader Joes, and my kitchen is still not even close to being stocked.

And that's all she wrote.

This is funny...I think:

I just got a message from a friend of mine on FB...somebody I've known for years and did a play with back in college.

Her FB account had, obviously, been hacked, since this was an offer for me to go to a particular website where I could make $150K.

So, I sent my friend a message on FB, asking if she sent me that message, and "she" immediately replied, "Yes," and that I should go to that site.

And, while I'm typing a reply, "she" starts a chat session with me.  "Yes," she says "I am ***".

This goes back and forth a couple of times, and then I ask her: "If you're really ***, what did you play in the show we did together (answer: a mermaid) and where did we do it (Penthouse Theater at the UW)?

"Don't you trust me?"

"Sure I do.  Answer the question."

So, while I'm waiting for an answer, I phone ***...and she answers and, of course, knows nothing about this.

Then, I write in the chat session: "I'm talking to you on the phone right now.  Why don't you know that?"

Suddenly, they were off line.

 ;D

That's pretty scary! :o Who knows what other information of your friend's that they have.  They could open credit card accounts in her name and do some real damage.

We went to the bookstore. I have read the first several chapters of "Little House in the Big Woods."
Loved that whole series.

Thanks for all the vibes for my mother. She came through with flying colors. She finished a lot quicker than we were told. The vibes really work.

I'm wishing Paul well.  He hates to camp and has no good camping memories, but this weekend he's going canoeing and camping with some hard core group of democrats in Northern Wisconsin.   He also hates tents etc.   The weather forecast is cold and wet with scattered thunderstorms.  LOL, this is SO not his cup of tea.  I can't wait to hear what he says when he comes back.   I told him to be sure and take lots of dry socks
