Who'd-a thunk it?

I'm feeling quite aimless this afternoon. I did change light bulbs in the kitchen, and that's an ordeal with 10-foot ceilings. I've been channel surfing and playing on Netflix, but I need some direction today.

Off to the sold out closing night of THE MUSIC MAN.  I have wanted to play Mayor Shinn for a long time - and this has been such fun (with exceptions)....thanks to my fellow HHW'er for their thoughts and vibes.....they have been most appreciated.

That's the first thing I said or I'll eat hay with the horse!

We are back from a delightful family day in Dayton.  We went to the open house for paramedic grads at Sinclair Community College and were quite impressed with Rob's instructors.  From there we went to the Dayton location of one of Rob and Mary Linda's favorite restaurants - The Melting Pot.  It's a fondue place - we had the luncheon special and I ate more dessert than I've had in a long time.  We stopped at Dayton Mall, where Richard and I wanted to look at a chair Macy's had advertised and Rob needed to get a new watch battery.  Richard and I ended up buying 2 new chairs for the family room - matching mission style recliners that will coordinate nicely with the couch.  Tried to make a stop for Mary Linda at Merle Norman, but they'd closed half an hour before we got there.

Well, this weekend is Olympia's Capital City Pride weekend!  AND the special guest performer during today's festivities is Olympia's very own Broadway baby, Shoshana Bean!

BUT I have to usher for a local production of Honk! and the VERY MOMENT that Shoshana is performing. :P

I didn't specifically ask to usher at this performance.  They just assigned this time to me.  I didn't know.

Darn.

Shoshana Bean is from Beaverton, Oregon.

Good Evening!

Well... It's evening here in NYC even though the sky is still a bit "bright" right now.

In other news...

I ended up taking a nap earlier since my stomach started feeling a bit "rumbly". That seems to have helped things. I'm just trying to figure out if it was the chopped liver I had earlier, or the Fall-like temps wreaking havoc with my system. Anyhoo...

And our guest star for the Kander and Ebb show is - Gregory Harrison.  He'll be doing a Steel Pier song, but not one he sang in that show.

And that "whoosh" I just heard was most likely DR MBarnum making his flight and hotel reservations. ;)

I'm nothing if not eclectic:  I have reviewed an anime called NEEDLESS and a rather charming ballet called LA PETITE DANSEUSE DE DEGAS.  :)

DR MBarnum - Sounds like you had a great time last night. And Congrats to Noor!

Did they go out to a restaurant for the party? Or did Noor's parents prepare a homemade Iraqi feast?

It was held at a vintage home in a desireable neighborhood in south salem, the home of a lady who works at the school Noor and Ali go to. The teachers and office staff of that school have totally gone out of their way to assist and support Noor and Ali...it is just amazing. A lot of tears were shed when Noor read a speech she prepared for the party.

Noor's mom, Maisa (who was a shool teacher in Baghdad...until a Taliban goon shot someone right in front of her one day, and so she decided to call it quits), cooked the food...she should totally open her own restaurnat, I swear!! I don't think she stopped crying the entire party!!

There was a question about favorite commercials yesterday; this is one of mine:

Okay, so I am a day late!

Ha, ha! That is great! Kind of amazing how well done lotter commercials are. Our Oregon lottery commercials are always a lot of fun.
