And...

After conducting today's understudy rehearsal, let's just say I'm kind of glad I haven't conducted yet. The view - literally - from the podium is quite different than the one from my keyboard, and the one I got used to from the archive video.

However...

I think by sometime next week, I should feel fully prepared to wave the baton. -Well, my hands, since I don't really like using a baton. Damn, the ictus!

In other news...

No rehearsal tomorrow before tomorrow's opening night performance. :)

I didn't even know this was happening!  Out of the loop....I guess.

Brent Barrett is Hannibal Lecter

http://theater.nytimes.com/2011/07/12/theater/reviews/silence-the-musical-at-theater-80-review.html?ref=theater

If you pardon the pun I am not sure this musical will be to everyone's taste.

Charles Isherwood mentions it differently, but there is a song about the c-word which liberally uses the word.. There is an encore and a reprise and the music is used for the curtain call. (This is from a podcast review that Peter Filichia did)

Also on that July 3rd pod cast Peter Filichia talks about all the over the top things that occur in the show that the review fails to mention. Stand-in for male genitalia, dog feces, ejaculate on a woman's face

I may be coming an old fuddy duddy but these are things I would like to know about before I decide to see a show.

But from what I also read  that show is packing them in and the audience loves.

I'm listening to a Romanovsky and Phillips compilation at the moment.

I only have one cd of theirs (Emotional Rollercoaster) and some of my favorite songs from it are Straightening Up The House, Emotional Rollercoaster and My Mother's Clothes

I took the day off and while I did get a number of things done, I didn't get nearly as much done as I wanted to.

George, I don't know if you are interested, but the 5th Avenue is having a "One Day Only" Sale on CINDERELLA, which I believe is their holiday production.  If you have the code, you can purchase tickets for $29.00 a piece, but only till midnight tonight.

The seats are probably up in the Second Balcony, but it is better paying $29.00 instead of $60.00 for the second balcony.

MBarnum, for $29.00 a ticket, you might want to consider taking your niece to see CINDERELLA.

I did get the pork butt - 15 pounds worth.  Have decided to make it in my electric roaster oven.  I have one pan I can use, but there are two big hunks of meat, so I think I'll use the roaster.   I'm thinking of doing one with my brother's recipe - no rub just onion, salt and pepper and a couple other spices with some chicken broth - and the other with a rub.   I'm sure some of the flavors will meld, but it will be interesting to taste the difference in the meat.

I bought 4 different kinds of sauce for people to choose their own.   I got several kinds of beer, 3 kinds of pop, water, cabbage from the farmers market to make cole slaw, I also touched up the deck, pulled weeds in the lower patio, cleaned up the yard so it can be mowed tomorrow and did a few other things.  What I didn't do was clean, lol.    I did make a list of everything I need to do before the party.  That will help me get it all done.

Tonight I'm invited to go out for dinner for another friend's birthday.  The hostess can't make it to my house Saturday night so she included me in the small dinner party.  I'm looking forward to it....OH YIKES!! I need to start getting ready or I won't be able to go in time to buy a birthday card on the way....laters.....

When I get home I'm going to prep the Boston butt, lol....as in getting the meat ready to be roasted tomorrow morning.  The butcher said making it ahead was just fine.

The other good thing about that is that I haven't made this before.  If it's terrible, I'll have time to figure something else out.  I think it will be wonderful, but one never knows.

After all the work I did on the deck, the forecast is dangerously hot weather for Saturday, lol.  Oh well, they can look at it out the window.

OK - I will be E & T until after dinner tonight.  My travels today require that I navigate something called "Spaghetti Junction," so some vibes would be appreciated!

Bye for now, y'all!

Let us know when you get pasta Spaghetti Junction.

My question for ASK BK day:

What is your favorite type of interview:  radio/internet, newspaper magazine, or television?

I'm comfortable on the radio and doing stuff by e-mail or phone - I haven't done much TV recently, but always enjoy doing the Skip E. Lowe show and ultimately had fun doing the ABC News thing.
