Back from the four-mile jog.  Just before I began, another of the Jacuzzi controls went on by itself and couldn't turn IT off without doing the breaker thing, so now we know it's not the iPad, because I powered that off last night.  Guess it's time to see if the pool guy can figure it out - if not, then I go to Mr. Marsden's business manager.

It continued all night, and it continues this afternoon. I canceled their adoption space. Maybe tomorrow.

They said it's not an unusual reaction to the anesthetic. Since it's a shelter, I'm sure it is the cheapest available that is not used in private practice. They said it's usually better after one day, but should be better by tomorrow. Good heavens, I hope so!

I'm with you, TCB. The news about Winehouse is hardly a surprise. I don't know her music at all, just the stories about her self-destruction. Was she really good?

Listening to "Perfect Hermany" and just heard "Marianne." I had to stop what I was doing. What a gorgeous song. I remember Barbara Cook's version, too. I think it's my favorite Herman song.

.

DR John G, Danny Troob is doing the orchestrations for the new stage version of ALADDIN that just opened in Seattle. What the world needs: another "cartoon" musical to open on the Manhattan theme park that was once called Broadway. I'm sure it will sound fantastic, but you know my personal thoughts about the orchestrator, and I admit that I am really sick of Disney muscals. The only redeeming thng about this one is that it's directed by Casey Nicolaw, and I think he's wonderful.

One of my co-workers went to see ALADDIN.  She said that the Genie was hysterical and almost managed to save the show.  She said that the show spent too much time focused on Jafar and that he was boring, boring, boring.  She said that Aladdin and Jasmine were okay, but that they really lacked any chemisty.

Andrew Jacobs as Aladdin.

We saw Aladdin on Ice when Rob was little.  The flying carpet stole that show.

I did manage to snag quite a few BDs I had never picked up, and in the "other" minor miracle department, I managed *not* to buy anything I already have.  :)

Why are blu-rays called BDs?  Or should I wait until Wednesday to ask?

George - what wonderful news about your show in last night's late postings!  Thanks for sharing that - what fun to have some good news from last night to wake up to this morning!

And George, your friend Pug got a nod, as well.

George, yes, DVDs are only 20% off.  I imagine it's because they're overstocked on BDs and want to clear those out.  Which they pretty much did at "my" store after I visited last night.  ;)

I just had some amazingly delicious trio of gelato: chocolate with chips, Sicilian almond and cardamom(!).

And dinner was grilled bok-choy kimchee, ceviches and braised pork arepas with guacamole at a new Asian-Latin place. -It was actually surprisingly good for a "fusion" place.

There are currently twenty-six GUESTS here.  You can only see the total on the first page of the discussion board, at the bottom.  There are zero GUESTS looking at this thread.

Now it is just 24 guests and me!

I hope DR TCB is able to have a pain-free and mobile Saturday today. ~~~~~

Ditto!

Unfortunately, not.  In fact, I almost called an ambulance about two hours ago, and I haven't totally ruled it out.

So you're skipping George's posts now?   ;D

He asked why BDs are 40% off at Borders while DVDs are only 20% off.

About two hours ago, I was sitting on my bed changing out of lounge pants and into my jeans.  I got myself to a standing position so that I could buckle my belt.  I started to fall forward, and I wasn't sure that I was close enough to stop myself against the wall without falling flat on my face.  Well, I caught myself on the wall, but I guess I clenched all the muscles in my hip area as I was falling.

I suddenly got this horrible burning pain in my loins and my rear end.  It was as if someone had lit my body on fire.  It hurt so bad, that I literally screamed out in pain.  I immediately took my pain pills ( a little early), and after an hour with no relief, I took a third pain pill.  Now the pain is, at least,  tolerable, but I have no idea what I have done to myself now.

Eulabelle in HORROR OF PARTY BEACH has the answer DR TCB....and it probably the answer to MR BK's mysterious jacuzzi operation:

I got HERMANY and DRANGO today.

If I want to send back my inlay card.....should it be to the address on the back of the CD?

Or should I ask one of the guests?

Rehearsal was great.  I've seen a lot of cabaret performers - most work too hard, most do acts that are ill-conceived and not well thought out, at least in my opinion.  This little thirteen-year-old knows how to take the stage, has gotten better and better with connecting each piece of the show, has her patter down but never seems like she's reciting, and makes each song fresh and interesting.  Her poise is amazing.  Today was the best she's been.  I had only a half-page of notes, and I know that when we run again, those notes will not longer be an issue.

I then went to the Eclectic Cafe and had my cajun chicken Caesar salad.  It was very good, but so lightly dressed I could barely even taste the dressing, so I had them bring me a little more on the side, and I used a little of that.
