DR BEN
If you use the #7 to delete the calls try 77 during the message. I do that for my house phone.

Michael, I've tried everything. A voice mail message cannot be deleted without listening to it. It's one of the quirks of my phone system.

I just ran into this yesterday for the first time with our new Comcast voicemail.  The only thing I figured out is that pressing 3 fast forwarded me through the (very long) message, probably about 10 seconds at a time.  I think maybe pressing 33 gets you right to the end of the message.

DRs Ben and JMK - Is there any sort of keypad shortcut chart available online for your phone system? I was always amazed at all the extra things I found online that aren't mentioned in the voice-menus.

Totally confused by Kickstarter when it comes to CD releases.  if someone puts money towards, say, Michael Arden's CD, is it a gift to Michael Arden - or do they get the money back, if the CD pays off and is a hit?

He should have benefits.

For example: You "pledge" $50 and you might get 2 CDS before they are released to the public.

Of course if his goal is not met then you don't pay The $50.

Kickstarter donations are a gift.  You do get a "reward" depending on who's looking for money and for what purpose.  I'm sure that FJL looked at the Nudie Musical Kickstarter project and saw that there were different rewards for different donation tiers.

When we're employed again, we'll see if we can get back to the old world.

They charge you $20 to take you back to the terminal.

That, my friends, is a DOUBLE callback.  ;)

Employed or not, there's no harm in looking at a page, is there?  There was lots of interesting stuff there, with clips, updates and all sorts of things.  You also would have known what sort of "rewards" were being offered.  So, no, I don't really understand why you wouldn't have been curious to even see the page, but that's just me.

And yes, Kickstarter and amazon (which is where the money goes) both take a cut, approximately 5% in all.  So, I didn't get the full amount pledged, I got about 4760.

BK--I watched the Jack Benny Show you mentioned yesterday.  Enjoyed it very much!   I kind of remembered his duet with Giselle MacKenzie, which was talked about, so I looked for that on youtube and watched that too!   There was no one like Jack!

If they took 5%, you should have gotten over $4900.

Re cell phones--I'm allowed 450 minutes a month and use less than 100 minutes most months.  But...when I'm travelling, I do find it very useful to have the phone.

Topic of the Day:

I only have a cell phone.  I gave up my land line several years ago.  I have a bluetooth earphone for when I'm driving (don't hate me ;)) and I find it no more distracting than speaking with someone sitting next to me.  All I have to do when I get a call is push one button on the earpiece and speak.  Even though I have my phone on most of the time, I always turn it off when I go to the movies or a live show, ESPECIALLY when I'm ushering.  It's become a habit to turn it off or at lease set the ringer to vibrate.  It very muchly bothers me when people are using their phones in any capacity at the movies or in a theater.

One time I was ushering for a local show (friends of mine were in the cast) and a cell phone went off in the row right in front of me!  The person quickly tried to turn it off (certainly not quickly enough) and it turned out that he was the husband of one of the actresses in the show!  He should've known better! >:(

I have a blackberry,  It's very important for me to have it for work. I get my email on it.  I don't carry it with me all the time when I"m off work.  I really don't like texts, but have a few people who will only respond to texts.  I do talk and drive.  From the office to my house etc.  I can do bluetooth through my car and usually do.

I find my cell phone really handy when I need something for the cats, or something done around the house etc.  It's about the only way I can have a way to contact clients when I do things like go to Omaha and they are coming to Omaha for court.  I like it.

Today I had a cancellation of removal hearing in Omaha.  We win my client gets a green card.  We lose, after 18 years in the US she would be deported to Guatemala.   We won.

Thanks George.   She needed to ride with me to court. She was nervous and talked for over 2 hours to get there, testified for 2 hours then was so excited she talked for over 2 hours on the way home.
