I am a puddle of tears right now. We've been working on one of my holy grail soundtracks for three months. We had an import CD release, awash in reverb and a generation from the original album master, and the 35mm stereo tracks, which were rife with wow and flutter on many tracks. I did not know quite how we were going to make it work, but we had everything in the film except two short cues and I think we were missing a couple of source music cues. Since this is one of my ten favorite scores ever written, well, I just wanted it to be perfect, but knew we were going to have to make do. Then the process began of trying to at least get the original album master back. That went back and forth for about three months, but finally we knew they'd come - but more importantly, in their inventory they had a set of three-track tapes from which the original LP had been assembled. The minute I heard how many tracks were on these two three-track tapes I knew we'd struck gold and had the entire score in what would probably be pristine sound. The minute I put it on and heard the prologue I knew I was right - and I am more than a happy camper.
