TOD:

Perhaps I'm off-base on this, but I think that if you are aware of the color when you are watching a movie, then there is something wrong with the movie.

Same thing with actors.  If, while I'm watching a film, I think to myself, "What a great performance," then it's not.

TOD (con't.):

That said, I love the color in:

GONE WITH THE WIND
THE WIZARD OF OZ
THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD
LAWRENCE OF ARABIA

Also many of the Budd Boetticher/Randolph Scott and Anthony Mann/Jimmy Stewart Westerns.

JULIET OF THE SPIRITS was Fellini's first color film and he is on record as stating he was pretty much playing with his new toy.  :)

DR Pogue, just curious:  are you British?  I notice you always spell words the British way, e.g., colour.

The hotel coffee pot malfunctioned and sprayed coffee all over this morning.  Luckily, I always bring my own pot (and my own coffee) just for situations like this.

I am not British, but I always spell things in the British way just because they look prettier.

Yes, there's nothing quite the Technicolor of ROBIN HOOD.

Sorry for being E&T again--Mom had a slight set back (her gall bladder drain fell out) that blossomed into a week long nightmare of a hospital stay.  Without going into details, I can tell y'all that Mom is now back at the rehab center back on the road to getting back on her feet.

Thanks to DR FJL, I can't get The Trolley Song out of me head...

I could add MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS to the list of fave color movies, but I guess I could add just about all of the MGM color musicals--they certainly knew how to do color!

If at times I don't think that the "On The Town" song in ON THE TOWN doesn't quite cut it, I still find myself pulled into the number by those incredibly colorful costumes worn by Vera, Ann and Betty.

I thought MY GUN IS QUICK was that sad song about a teenage boy's first failed attempt at lovemaking.

I am off now to the GM dealership in Lebanon, OH, to have my car examined.  It's "involved in a safety recall" (the exact wording of the letter).  I may be there for a few minutes (no action required OR action required, part needs to be ordered) or an hour and a half (action required, part in stock).

Bye for now...

My 11:45pm bus which usually doesn't end up leaving until 12:30am, actually left at 11:46pm. And since there was no traffic on the way up, we pulled up to Penn Station at 3:30am, and I was back home on the UES at 3:45am.

:)
