THE DAY THAT GOT AWAY
« on: September 07, 2011, 12:21:53 AM »

Well, you've read the notes, the notes didn't get away, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they got away - and the problem has been how to get them back where they belong - like Dolly.

From yesterday (and touched upon in today's Notes II):

Man, this day got away from me.  I got up and was immediately inundated with messages about what another soundtrack label was doing, having to do with re-pressing a limited edition that sold out quickly in about twelve hours.  They basically said they were out of the limited edition game, were going to do whatever the market would bear, and threatened that any title that didn't sell well would be pulled and effectively go out of print.  That story changed many times throughout the day because I'm sure they began to realize that they have CONTRACTS, those little things that have obligations in them - so they waffled and back-pedaled and now basically are saying it will be business as usual and occasionally they may re-press if something sells out quickly.  Meaning, their limited to 3000 units line is bogus and untrue.  Leave it off, but they won't because then they suddenly lose the BENEFITS of the limited edition.  They've basically shot themselves in the foot, I believe, and, for me at least, the credibility issue has gone to hell.

This reminds me of when sh-k-boom released the "numbered, limited edition" vinyl album to The Drowsy Chaperone (limited to 1000)...but now they have a "second printing" that's still in print and selling.

:P is what I say.

Good morning, all! No check yet from the  Man in Philadelphia with the bank account, so I'm hoping it shows up today because it will be a larger amount than usual and i think I might purchase a non-regional Blu-Ray player as soon as someone directs me to a reputable site.

This morning I have a trip to see our paralegal Geri at the McGlinnventory; she wants to hear all about the Irish trek and I need to use the binder to reassemble my EILEEN work score and a couple of libretti and scores. I will stop at Toyland on my way down to 23rd to check on the office.

After that, my day is open, although I need to begn the first attempt at some sensible liner notes. New World Records has set the release date for the Herbert cello and piano music for December.

Time for my meds. More coffee.

Today is the 25th wedding anniversary of Ron and Dona Raines. I have next to no memory of the wedding but I do remember the reception! On the East Side, as I recall.

Allison Janney in THE HELP reminded me a lot of Dona.

Already a frustrating morning dealing with AT&T, perhaps my least favorite company on the planet. And my FFFFFF key has been sticking. Also not good.

Wednesday morning greetings!  Today is DS Rob's 26th birthday, so Richard and I are going out to lunch or dinner to celebrate.  We'll take Rob and Mary Linda to Montgomery Inn sometime later.

Shh! Don't tell Joshie, but he is going to the vet this morning for a recheck on his mouth.

Re: DR Jane's discuss of "formal dining" on cruises. I think most cruise lines have at least one formal night during the cruise. And it is stated beforehand what is acceptable attire.DR Jane, couldn't you just have gone back to your room to get a skirt?

I think it's sort of crazy they turned you away if you liked nice but were just wearing pants.  I do think most people dress up quite fancy (i've seen pics of my parents in very fancy attire).I think it's sort of nice to have people get all dressed up.
