Very sad about actor Andy Whitefield. So young.

Another celebrity death that was just reported in the LA times obits, although she died on August 20th...Ms. Patricia Hardy star of DON'T KNOCK THE ROCK and GIRLS IN THE NIGHT.

She was also Mrs. Richard Egan from 1958 till his death 30 years later. From all accounts they had a wonderful marriage and I can recall one of my interviewees commenting that Richard took his marriage vows very seriously, despite the fact that women threw themselves at him all of the time.

It is easy for the badly parented kids to get noticed, but there are a lot of well mannered kids with good parents, also. They just don't get noticed as much. Choose to notice the good ones.

Nice to read about a good marriage, as with the children it is the bad ones that receive the most attention.

"They" are saying we have possibility of more rain tonight. So there's still hope! (We haven't had any rain at my house since August 3.)

Yesterday's Remembrance Ceremony was very nice.....and their were tears....and lots of music.....and Vickie and i received many compliments on our reading.....   It was difficult - but we "delivered the news"!  :'(

Good Afternoon!

The main part of the auditions finished a little before 11:00am, and then I went to lunch before playing my final session of callbacks from 1:00pm-2:00pm.

Printing out orders - this one seems to be doing a little better than our last couple, so that's good.  Proofing, did the four-mile jog, ate a sandwich and onion rings, did errands and whatnot, picked up zero packages and mail and am home now waiting for the conference call in a couple of hours.

Thank You, DR JRand.

We did have a bit of a drop in the number of people auditioning this year (most likely due to the economy as well as people not wanting to fly on the 10th Anniversary of 9/11), but the overall quality was pretty good. There were a couple of doozies, but they just give me a chance to practice my poker face. ;)

It was very interesting at today's dance call. On one side of the conference center lobby was a large group of dancers going through their routines. On the other side were a bunch of Army Reservists having lunch. At least now I know that leotards and fatigues clash. ::)

Well earlier today, the cable guy came to my place and left without really being able to do anything.  Something is wrong with my computer, not the cable modem, which prevents me from getting onto the interwebs at home. :P

I was able to go from the modem to my router to my Blu-ray player and stream movies from Netflix, so there is no problem with any of those items.  There's something preventing my computer from getting an IP address.  Larry (my sister's boyfriend) is going to come over tonight...tomorrow at the latest...and try some things.  He also has a laptop that I can borrow, if he needs to take my computer away with him.  Hopefully, whatever the problem is, it can be fixed easily (meaning, cheaply).

At least, I can check e-mail and HHW, here at work (in moments of downtime).

;)

A little later, I'll be heading out for a late dinner with my friend, Tucker. Tucker lives here in Atlanta, but he depends on me to tell him where the good restaurants are in town. ;)

We'll be heading to the Holeman & Finch Public House for their "10:00 Burger", and since that happens to be near the abode of E&T DR edisaurus, she'll be joining us too.

DR George - It sounds like your modem card may have just come loose. If you can open up your case and re-seat the card, that may do the trick.

As for the Topic of the Day...

-When I think back to some of the punishments - a.k.a. physical abuse - some of the nuns inflicted on some of my misbehaving classmates in grade school, I still get the chills. And there's no doubt that they would have been brought up on charges of child abuse in today's world, political climate.

-My Dad would take his belt out every now and then. Yes, I hated(?) it back then, but looking back, I can see, I know that I deserved it. No scars, no bruises, physical or otherwise.

-When I look at my brothers raising their children, all I can say is, "There but for the Grace of God..." Especially, since both my brothers are raising their children between two homes. I don't envy them, but I also marvel at them and am very proud of them.

Ooo...that sounds like a simple thing to try!  I think that even I could do that.  Thanks for the tip, Jose. :)
