DR Cillaliz re: those wild animals in Ohio.

I was also very surprised that they were shooting to kill. I saw an interview with the sheriff involved and he said he was an animal lover and it made him sick to have to do this. Apparently if you tranquilize they can go into hiding and then they wake up and you have to start all over again.

I am so surprised that there were no other options but to shoot them. Very sad.

Freitag afternoon greetings! We are crusing the Mosel River today after a visit to foggy Cochem and the spectacular Reichburg (Imperial Castle). Richard and I are relaxing in our cabin, enjoying not being talked at. We're due to dock in Zell in about 3 hours. There we'll have an onboard wine tasting in the company of the Mayor of Zell and the Wine Queen.

The pad indicated it was the door to the preschool playground. We do have motion detectors, but those things have never gone off.

The Blu of The Guns of Navarone arrived in my mail today. I haven't watched it all yet but it looks fine to me as well and Dimitri Tiomkin's music sounds stunning. I saw the film when it went on general release when I was aged 15. I was mightily impressed that my local cinema showed the film in stereo - it was unusual to have stereo sound in the suburban cinemas in those days. I'm pleased that the Intermission and Entr'acte music have been reinstated into the film, which is as how I saw it.

Yippee!! My new TV arrived today. It's a 3D set. I know not everyone likes 3D but I've been a fan ever since I first saw 3D films back in the '50s and modern 3D is vastly better than that. I've got to wait now for a prospective buyer to purchase my old set which I can then remove from the wall before putting the new one up.

Hello from the Windy City! I just checked into my hotel. I decided to try the "blue line." Well, actually it was the blue line and then the red line. It took about 1 1/4 hours. And if there was an elevator or escalator at the Grand Street station, I didn't see it. So I had to trudge up the stairs carrying my large suitcase, plus a carryon. Not sure if I'll go back to the airport the same way!
