Well, you've read the notes, the notes were amplified, and now it is time for you to post until the amplified cows come home.

BK, I TOTALLY agree with you about the problem of amplification in theater today.  A local theater company has their own fairly small theater (only about 180 seats) and anytime they do musicals, the sound is just too loud for the space...a few times, the sound was even a bit distorted because of the volume.

:P is what I say.

Last night's performance of "The Hound of the Baskervilles" was the best so far...for just about everyone involved.  Pug (who's running lights) said that she make a couple of mistakes, but I didn't notice any, and I'm sure that no one in the audience did, either.  I think that we've all finally hit our collective strides. :D

The Broadway version of Hairspray brings back memories.

It was actually the first time I met Mr. Bruce Kimmel in the flesh. It was during the intermission that I went up to introduce myself. We were a few rows apart and a section over.

Now I never told anyone this, but this I was going to do this:

"Excuse me, but weren't you in The First Nudie Musical?"

and if BK just said "Yes"

I was going to say, "Mr. NATHAN such a pleasure to meet you."

Meeting Mr. Kimmel had its perks too.

We went backstage after the show courtsey of DR Arnold Brockman's son, Craig. Were we chatted with  Kerry Butler (The original Penny). Harvey Fierstein came by and I reminded that we were in a movie together. "Doctor Jeckyl & MS. Hyde".

And if you imagaine him with his deep voice going AHHHHHHHHHHHHH. That was his opinion of the movie.

He signed my Playbill. Do celebrities always walk around with "Sharpies" just in case they are asked for an autograph?

Good morning, all! Last night I slept rather well. I was exhausted and I turned off the lights around 10:30. I was dreaming something about Goodspeed and the Drama Book Shop when the alarm went off.

Today I am seeing a new musical, THE BLUE FLOWER, with Mr Bruce Pomahac. I will meet him at 12:30 at Angus McIndoe's, and I'm sure we will have a fun time. This morning, I have to write out violin parts for "The Cherry Tree Carol" and "Jesus Christ, the Apple Tree" and I think all of my prelim work for tomorrow's rehearsal is finished. I'll finish the numbers when I return from the show with Bruce.

Tonight, I have to call Kim Criswell, who's in from London for a few days. She called me on Friday night and left a message and I know that when I speak to Miss Kimmy, I need a good hour free because we do have a good time on the phone. Following that I have another trip to midtown to meet the Appalachian cast at an Irish bar on 50th and Broadway around 8:30. It's a long day! I'll tape tonight's ONCE UPON A TIME.

More coffee!

Tomorrow I return to the car veering off the cliff.

I can't wait until December 1st (my first day of vacation).

Today we are going to a birthday party and the host has decided to make a Cherpumple.

Thanks to MR BK for the Hairspray report.

And I will be looking forward to the Blue Flower report from DR ELMORE.

Today is the Annual Meeting of the Putnam County Playhouse where I will once again lose the Upstage Award to an undeserving performer.

DR JRand61, this award raises questions: is it going to the one who upstages most often or the least? I do hope you win it this year.

Since it's Sunday we won't be having our usual oatmeal. I make scrambled eggs on Sunday and I buy a scone from Bread Alone at the Union Square Green Market and we have eggs, a scone (each have half) a piece of fruit (strawberries or a pear or something else, depending on what's in the apartment) and coffee and tea. We listen to music and enjoy our Sunday morning.

Then it's off to Brooklyn Heights for Cherpumple.

DR elmore - I hope you enjoy The Blue Flower. Please give my best to Graham Rowat - Kate Baldwin's husband - if you happen to catch him after the show. And I hope you're able to have a good catch up session with "Kimmy".

DR Michael S - At most Broadway stage doors, one of the stage door "managers" usually hands out Sharpies to the actors as they leave the theatre. It just makes it easier for them once they get outside to greet their fans and start signing Playbills, posters, CDs, records, underwear, arms, boobs, butts, etc. ;)

I enjoy HAIRSPRAY.

I saw it in Los Angeles at the Pantages and also the movie.

They did it here in Austin last year at  the ZACH, but we didn't see it.

Not the greatest musical, but it's fun.

It is what it is.

I've been watching a documentary filmed in 3D of the Hoover Dam and the Hoover Dam Bypass bridge. What an amazing bridge!. Anyone driven over it?

It's clearing out/sorting out day. Specifically, trying to sort out my books which are in a complete shambles. Trouble is my shelves are all different heights so instead of grouping book categories together I tend to sort them according to how high they are. Which is fine until I try to find anything. I tend to keep too many books as well, even though I have many which I've not looked at in years.

The documentary shows pedestrians walking along the footpath on the bridge and looking over the side.
