Woke up to find that DC Daisy had vomitted a hairball (again) on the duvet (known as a comforter in the US I believe). More laundry to be done after yesterday's session!

Must be something in the air--DD Beegee threw up last night.  It was definitely not a hairball, though.  :)

No one threw up anything at my house over the weekend.   One or two more posts about positive vomit experiences might see some activity here in the office, though.

Travel vibes for DR Elmore, please!

I've been receiving text messages from him for an hour or so about how difficult his trip has been so far.  First, a soldier's bag was checked under Elmore's name, preventing Elmore from checking HIS bag.  That meant he had to give up his shampoo and mouthwash and carry on his luggage.  They got to Charleston and there was a mechanical problem with their connecting flight to Savannah/Hilton Head, so they were stranded for more than an hour.  Last message indicated that they'd just boarded the plane for SAV...

Sugarfoot the Monarch Butterfly is very happy living in a birdcage at Molly's house.  She was taken outside yesterday where she flew about 5 feet and then turned around and came back and landed on Molly's arm.

She eats mashed fruit and jam and sugar water and likes to listen to music.  ;D

That is so wonderful, DR JRand!!

My new sing-along video won't match BK's wonderful pace, of course, but here's the link anyway.  Please pass the link around if you like the shtick.

This is an ANYTHING GOES parody / mash-up with the much-discussed nudity in BURNING
in which we imagine Sutton Foster's ANYTHING GOES chorus men giving historical perspective on Hunter Foster's full-frontal performance in the New Group's BURNING  :)

Thanks if you have time to listen!

Thanks, Doug. Do you do picnics or cookouts or anything like that? Or just the bonfire/fireworks?

The bonfires & fireworks usually include barbecue food like sausages and/or burgers.

Woke at six to find Time Warner down again. Called, was given the usual runaround. First they said it was supposed to have been fixed already, then that changed to sorry still down. Took my car in and sent the eBlast frm the iPad. Happy to say that our views more than doubled overnight. Of course all the views that occurred during the freeze are never counted. CDs arrived but helper is coming back from out of town and won't be here till after eleven. I doubt that everything will get shipped today as she forgot to tell me we were short on boxes. More boxes arrive tomorrow and I'm sure we won't have enough for everything today.

Ding, ding ding, we have a winner!!!  Walking pneumonia or "something similar" in the inimitable words of my doctor.  What a morning of glitches, though.  The check-in clerk's computer kept crashing, which means it's "probable" I'll have several duplicated charges for my co-pay, and then evidently due to that glitch, the computer didn't "tell" my doctor I was there, despite my having already seen his nurse and had my vitals checked, so I sat in the waiting room for 40 minutes before I came out in the hall and started raising a ruckus.  Then there was another delay waiting for my flu shot, then because I had to pick up drugs for my illness, I went to the pharmacy at the local store to discover they wouldn't be open for another 15 minutes and that it would be a 30 minute wait after that.  Oy and vey and also vey and oy.

Our heater, except in the bedrooms, just broke & they can't come fix it until tomorrow afternoon.  I have 13 people coming for my book discussion in the morning.  I have to contact them all to layer on the clothes.  I hope the wood burning stove is enough to keep them warm.

I really enjoyed Part 1 of "Outside the Box".    The rehearsals of "The Miracle Worker: The Musical" had me chuckling in delight!

Whose voice was that on the telephone?

I think I have relayed the story of my brother-in-law, who was a VP of both Glaxo and Pfizer, and how we quizzed him as to how they came up with these ridiculous drug names.  We thought there was some sort of etymological committee that decided them, but, NOOOOO, it's just some marketing clown who has to choose a name that's not similar to any other drug.

We also say duvet to distinguish it from a regular comforter.  Not all comforters are down, or whatever, filled while duvets are.  At least that is how I distinguish them.

Best Buy have announced their closure in the UK. They opened 11 stores in the UK a few years ago but have been struggling. There's a store not far from me but I've never been impressed with it. The range of product and prices are no better than what we have in other stores. I don't know how the UK stores compare with their U.S. ones but they never seemed to have any bargains.
I went into one last week and I could understand why the chain is threatened. Service was terrible and the prices were only so-so.

So far we have been happy with the Best Buy near us.  We were very happy when it opened last year.  I purchased my washer & dryer there.

This morning I finally have my doctor's appointment.  It's actually my routine blood draw but I'm hoping he can shed some light on why I still have this fershluggunah "cold" after five weeks.  My hunch is I have or had walking pneumonia.  We shall see.

GOOD LUCK!
