Fictional detective:

Miss Marple
Ellery Queen
Mike Hammer

and the same for movie/tv detectives.

I also like Paul Drake on Perry Mason.....I like the NCIS crew.....and if they can be counted as detectives.....Sam and Dean Winchester from SUPERNATURAL.

TOD:

Philip Marlowe and Sam Spade are definitely my favorites.

I love THE MALTESE FALCON and FAREWELL, MY LOVELY with Mitchum.

I also love CHINATOWN

I enjoy THE BIG SLEEP with Bogart, but it does have its problems.

The first day of the Austin Comic Con was exhausting...but I did okay.

Sold more books than I though I would do.

Back today and tomorrow at 10 am.

I tried catching the open top, hop on hop off tourist bus but couldn`t find it anywhere, despite waiting where it was supposed to stop, neither have I seen it around the city so maybe it´s not running. Weather is glorious, hot and sunny. I am off to the airport soon to fly back to London.

The Man Who Watched Trains Go By is a fascinating film. I saw it for the first time just a few years ago. I read the book after seeing the film. A curious, interesting novel in which the Claude Raines character is considerably less sympathetic.

Saturday morning greetings!  Richard and I had a delightful time last night at Miami University Opera's PIRATES OF PENZANCE.  The diction wasn't great, especially during the spoken parts, but that didn't matter.  There were a couple of Middletown kids in the show and we visited with their parents during intermission.

DR Cillaliz, I, too, will be tuning in to the Penn State/Nebraska game - just out of morbid curiosity.  It's on at the same time as Cincinnati/West Virginia, so I'll be flipping back and forth.  Later, Michigan plays at Illinois and the Middletown Middies go up against Cincinnati Moeller in state playoffs.

We have a busy, busy day today.  I'm conducting my fall Pops concert this afternoon and then tonight Betsy and I have a date at the Jewish Federation Gala which is featuring Last Comic Standing's Gary Gullman in performance.

And now I'm deciding whether or not to organize my book. Well... Rather I'm trying to decided if I want to put it in show order, or in alphabetical order just to make it easier for me to find the songs during these still relatively early rehearsals.

Or just leave it the way it is. ::)

Excellent Filichia on Friday column.

When I was a finalist for the Ebb Award last year, Pasek and Paul were among the others who'd been finalists, so out of curiosity while all the finalists waited the few weeks to find out who won (the winner ended up being the brilliant Doug Cohen),  I'd heard a good bit of their work and was very pleased to even be in their company as fellow finalists.

I'm up, a little later than planned but sleep is good.  It's very gray out - rained for a while in the middle of the night, and looks like more may be coming, so the jog, at least for now, is out, unless it clears up by the time I return from rehearsal.

What do I have in common with 35 (count 'em 35) guests?

We're all here right now.

Sigh.
