Well, you've read the notes, the notes were for the birds, and now it is time for you to post until the birds, oops, cows come home.

I don't know about the U.S. but in the U.K. today is a holiday. Holidays in Europe are lengthy and this one has been going on since Thursday afternoon.

Watching a bit of "Ben-Hur" which is playing in HD on one of the UK channels and it looks every bit as good as the Blu-ray.

Good morning, all! I've been up since 6:00am, with morning ablutions, emails, first cup of coffee, and concerns. In another 30 minutesI will walk to the 83rd Street post office and ship these full scores. I  remember one bizarre dream: I was dying and loking for directors to cover several projects I had coming up. I gave J.K. Simmons the production of Kalman's COUNTESS MARITZA with a concert band in Australia, and I was wondering around Lincoln Center, coughing and gasping for air, trying to cover the other projects. I rarely dream I'm in the throes of death or murder, so it gives me pause.

The phone conversation last night lasted nearly three hours, from 4:25 to 7:15. It was good. I think we now have an office, I have DEAREST ENEMY recording concerns that will most likely linger for months, and I hope the estate made some money on this McGlinn auction, something I need to deal with on Wednesday. Life with the Man from Philadelphia isn't dull, that's for sure!

Today, notes on reassembling ROBERTA for the copyists, and more of THE ONLY GIRL. Depending on how the day goes, I may go to this Noel Coward event at the NYPL this evening. Steve Ross and two ladies are performing a lot of unpublished cut songs from THE GIRL WHO CAME TO SUPPER and other shows. Tomorrow I'll be at Toyland waiting for a delivery. That's my story.

Coffee and meds to follow.

Here's the blurb Steve Ross sent me. I'd forgotten my friend Jeanne, who's on the Herbert songs release, is performing, too:

Monday,  April 9th - Bruno Walter Auditorium, Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center Admission is free
Noel Coward – Off the Record. A program of hitherto unrecorded songs by Noel Coward. With assisting artistes Jeanne Lehman and Lisa Riegel
(http://www.nypl.org/locations/tid/55/node/151852?lref=55%2Fcalendar)

This program of rarities will be not only for the choir but the cognoscenti – some from the early shows (London Calling, On With the Dance)  and some dropped from his later shows (Later than Spring, the Girl Who Came to Supper) and a truly rare song written with Jerome Kern. All are  interesting and a few are real gems.

Somehow the sounds of a Noel Coward-Jerome Kern song is something I can't get my mind around. They don't seem to mesh well, which may explain why only the one song.

TOD: I loved Dr. Seuss as a kid. I don't know if that actually counts as a nursery rhyme or not. But the trickier the word play, the better it was.

I don't remember having nightmares from any of those rhymes. Or from Grimm or Hoffman.

DR JANE - I think Morley Safer said at the beginning of 60 MINUTES that they would have the whole show dedicated to Mike Wallace next week - they are putting together some of this "best" interviews.....they'll have to go back A LONG time to find some of those.

Interesting analysis, very well-said, whether it actually applies to Larry or not - something for lots of folks to think about.

DR Jane re: your question last night about the book BLUE. Now that i am at my computer i went to goodreads. They consider the book fantasy/contemporary.  That is also how i would classify it.

I personally would not classify it as YA. Since the story isn't really YA and the story is a lot about the father (and he is one of the narrators).  It definitely isn't dystopia. This book is set in the present. Dystopia is set in the future. Also this book had a fantasy land. Dystopia is not usually any fantasy. Sometimes it can be set in the future where there might be a spaceship or something else we don't have. Plus in dystopia there are struggles. Whereas this book was very contemporary. Hope that makes some sense.

Monday morning greetings!  I slept very well last night and woke up quite refreshed at 7:30am.  Puttering and errands are on my agenda for today.  This evening our AAUW meeting will be held at our local public library and the speaker is the new director - appropriate way to kick off National Library Week!
