Happy Birthday, DR Danise!  Don't forget to nmake a wish!
Thank you too DR Kerry.  I bought myself a slice of chocolate cake last night to have with dinner.  I'm thinking about going out to Olive Garden or just getting some wings from Beef O'Brady's and kicking back.

The special treats continue :D

My dental check-up was uneventful, with no need to return until November for another one!

The best kind of check-up!

Sherlock has been more active, wagging his tail, and even a little sneak.  Keith had a couple of Sherlock's special treats sticking out of his pocket and Sherlock stole one.  He was obviously very pleased with himself.

Either this is his last hurrah or the switch from prednisone to prednisolone is making a difference.  Cats people here might know cats need to take prednisolone but it isn't supposed to matter with dogs.  Apparently it does.

I'm up.  I was up at seven for some unknown reason - I finally fell back asleep at eight-thirty - thankfully I was smart enough to set the alarm for ten, because I'm sure I would have slept right through the Dr. Chew appointment, which is in an hour.  I had the weirdest dream ever, really three dreams in one all mashed up that made no sense at all.

Good morning, all! It was another night of peculiar dreams: I was walking down Broadway in a bathrobe and socks wondering why the day's mail hadn't arrived; something about travel; several dreams about visiting my friends Arie and Kevin, who now live in Amsterdam; in one dream they were still living in DC and dealing with a rather crazy neighbor, an awful dog, and a cherry tree, and in another we were in London at the BBC, where Arie bought 400 books and I spilled coffee.

Today, I have a trek to Toyland: I will meet Curtis there to learn how to accomplish something on my computer. I have a couple of scores to proof and some ROBERTA materials to scan while I'm there. Tonight, I'm turning over the remainder of THE ONLY GIRL scores, and it's out of my hair for now. Excellent!

BK, I'm glad last night's event went well. For some reason, I was thinking it was tonight. Oy!

Isn't there song about that - big black dog and a cherry tree??
There's the Kling-Kling  Bird in the Divi-Divi Tree. Is that close enough?

I can also encourage you good people to check things that look like real, actual junk mail -- which is how many product manufacturer rebates come these days.  You go to all the trouble to document, photocopy, fill out, kiss, mail, postmark, etc. ... then it takes so long for the things to process that you completely forget there's $10 or $30 or whatever coming back to you on some purchase.  Then one day you get one of those crappy looking little card-stock things that looks for all the world like just another advertisement, an "offer" for reduced mortgage rates, or whatever... but you open it, and there's yer thirty smackers.

This is how They get you.

And for your convenience the bastards have put it on a "Pre-Paid Debit or Visa card" with all sorts of fees and regulations attached. I don't buy things that have a "rebate" attached. If you're going to screw me with the price, don't tell me. Rebates are bullsh*t. If you can afford to send me $10 on a wasteful piece of plastic encoded with all sorts of other crap, then you can afford to sell the product for $10 less outright you greedy SOBs!

End of rant

I hear you DR BEN - and now I am seeing lots of commercials for prepaid credit cards.....and I am sure if you get one and put $30 on it, about half of your money will be used up with transaction fees.....

Yikes!  Fortunately, that's never happened to me.  And the rebates that I've gotten have all been checks with no fees...so far.

Well I've now reached celebrity status: New World Records has received their first email from a "Herbert expert," wanting to know why he rceived no acknowledgement for his expertise being used and abused by me in my liner notes for the Herbert Songs. I guess you're a celebrity when others accuse you of ripping them off.

The answer is really simple: I didn't use anything of his and he offered no help at all to warrant an acknowledgement. I haven't even communicated with him since 2007, three years before I  pulled songs from the Herbert Collection at the LoC.

And speaking of Victor Herbert, my copy arrived today!  I'm leaving for lunch, but I'll start to listen to this 4-CD set right after I get back, before I go to my meeting...and then after the meeting. :D
