It's another weirdly bright day with some bizarre light source emanating from the sky.  Scary.

If I had BK's new release, I'd put it on as accompaniment.

Today I must take screencaps for many Blu-rays which are in my review pile.  Then I must review said Blu-rays.

In other news, the appraisal came back just fine on the old house, which means the buyers had to relinquish their earnest money to me, which hopefully will magically appear in my brokerage account today so that I can go get it and pay for all the fershluggenah repairs I did for them.  :)

As cheesy as those old Reader's Digest boxed sets are, I must say I had forgotten how stellar the RCA deluxe vinyl on them always sounded.

Those RCA Reader Digest sets are wonderful.  Some were cheesey, but you probably know that others were real audiophile favorites.  At one point I had all the ones that were important to me, perhaps a couple of linear feet, but last year I weeded out a BUNCH of vinyl and I remember making some tough decisions on the RCAs.  Now I want to go downstairs and see what I kept.

(Still have a wall and a half full of vinyl.  At my peak I estimated five to six thousand albums, but I eventually came to realize that many were dumb acquisitions, some of which weren't even in decent shape, and the purging was a necessary and welcome thing.)

I meant to say I made touch decisions on the Readers Digests.  RCAs themselves are not so subject to tough decisions!   :)

Like DR Druxy, I gave up flour, sugar, starches, etc about the third week of April.  I haven't been 100% successful in totally eliminating these items becase of parties, etc... But I've dropped some weight and I feel SO much better in general.  I've explored other flours, etc and that has been fun also.  I learned about the glycemic index and what types of sugars and flours to avoid.  It's all really healthy and good.  On days I "cheat", it's easy to get right back on when you remember how good you feel when you eat this way.

Friday morning greetings!  It's crunch time for me regarding our upcoming trip to New York and Washington, DC!  When we leave here for church on Sunday, we'll be packed for the week and head to the Dayton airport from Lima after the service.  Today = laundry, packing, etc.

Richard decided a couple of months ago to try this as well and asked if I wanted to join him.  Having already given up fat and salt, I declined, but by default am not eating as much flour and starch as before.  Our daughter-in-law follows a pretty strict gluten-free diet.

Y'all are very close to describing what works for me, which is basic Atkins-style low carbing.  Which I was just saying that I've got to start again.  It works amazingly for me.  I'm a veritable poster child for low-carbing.  A VERITABLE POSTER CHILD.  Not that I don't love me my carbs.  I adore them.  But there's no question that that's what puts the weight on.  Okay, the fat.  That's what puts the FAT on.

I have thought often about the starch free, gluten free, etc. style of eating, but I need to really sit down and study it to find out what to eat for breakfast and lunch...my breakfast is normally cooked oats (with eggs, crushed almonds, and dried cranberries)...and lunch is normally a sandwich of chicken slices on whole wheat...so I need to replace some of those things, I am guessing.

Otherwise I snack on mixed nuts, celery, and apple slices during the day and dinner is usually a boiled chicken breast or two eggs with a side of vegies/fruit.

And looking at the BMI index that was at my doctors office, I need to drop 20 pounds (I am currently at 190 lbs).

The season finale of THE MENTALIST freaked me out!

We haven't watched it yet.  I"m not surprised though after last week's episode.

Joe Ricketts is much in the news stateside.  In fact most of yesterday's news cycle was about him.

I'm kind of surprised Redford would have even worked with/for him.
