Funny, a few minutes after I noticed the snow Keith did and was just as surprised as I was.  I heard Craig yelling back at him "Mom just said that.".

Damn it.  I mean:

Sometimes those pre-made deli sandwiches can be really delicious; I especially like wraps from places like that.

DR ChasSmith, these were made fresh to order.  I know that because the ham and brie was supposed to have spicy Dijon mustard, which I knew Richard would not like, so I asked them to leave it off.

My mistake, and apologies.  Just to clarify, I don't mean pre-made like something you'd see in a convenience store.  I've had a few very nice sandwiches from the lower level (note: not the third level) in Grand Central.

Ginny can you buy heart friendly microwave popcorn?

Well, friendlier, but not entirely friendly.  I look for products that are lower in fat and sodium.  Tonight's was the real stuff, though that the hotel provides.

So much work this week. And I'm tired.

Night, all.

Travel vibes to FJL. It's been in the mid-60s to mid-70s  here on the Westside, warmer inland.

Has anyone read anything by Tana French? I believe she's Irish. I bought one of her novels and will be starting it in the next day or two.

Today I started my staycation.   I'm not going back to work until next Wednesday and not going anywhere just staying in town.
How was Memphis?

Oh, I have been gone.  Memphis was fun.  It was a great seminar and I did manage to go to the National Civil Rights Museum - very impressive - ate at Charles Vergos' Rendezvous, Gus' Fried Chicken, Rum Boogie Cafe, Blue Plate Cafe, and I think the rest would have been catered..Central BBQ, another barbeque place and a sushi place.    I don't know who catered on the boat trip, but the southern comfort food was wonderful.

A barbecue and sushi place. Sounds like heaven to me. Oh, those were two separate places. Sorry, just dreaming.

Well actually, the barbecue and sushi were catered on the same day, so on once side of the aisle was barbecue the other side was sushi.  It would have been a dream come true

I also really enjoyed being downtown and riding the trolleys.  I was having a bad flare up of tendonitis in my ankle, so I wasn't able to walk much.  Lots of R.I.C.E. and riding the trolleys to get from one place to another.   Memphis is working on restoring storefronts downtown and I really love that stuff, so I did a lot of looking at the architecture

You make me want to visit Memphis.  I've never been there.

I really like Memphis.

What a coinkydink!  I've been listening to the Broadway cast recording of Memphis.

I enjoyed seeing it more than I am just listening to it.

Thanks for reminding me.  I recorded Memphis ages ago and have never found time to watch it.  I'll do that this weekend

For dinner we went next door to CVS and bought a can of Progresso chicken noodle soup and some string cheese and picked up an apple in the hotel lobby.  We have a pretty complete kitchen, so I microwaved a bag of popcorn and heated up the soup.  With me fixing dinner and Richard doing laundry downstairs, it's just like home!

The kitchen is what I really like about Residence Inn.  I haven't stayed in one for a long time, though

Today, day one of staycation, I did a lot of little errands I haven't seemed to find time to get done.  I also used the chain saw to cut up a fallen limb.  I am so glad I bought that thing.  I went out for breakfast, bought some new shoes with lots of support to help my ankle, did some yard work, went out for coffee with Paul....that sort of thing.  I am going to start on the room tomorrow.  If I can get the walls cleaned, the rest is fun.  I'd like to get the work done by Sunday night.  Then I'll have two days off with my work all done.  I love the feeling of having the projects done..

Guess you all know I'm not a sit on the beach kind of person.  I'd rather be working on my house.

Watched two wonderful films today.

Film number one was on TCM and titled NEPTUNE'S DAUGHTER (1949). It starred Esther Williams, Ricardo Montalban, Red Skelton, and Better Garrett, all of who were wonderful.

Ricardo Montalban was so dreamy back then. I swooned several times. And Betty Garrett was quite funny as was Red Skelton, who I am usually not all that fond of. My interviewee Sara Shane played a receptionist and pretty Joi Lansing had a couple of scenes as a swimsuit model. Add that that some nifty songs and it was a nice, enjoyable afternoon viewing.

I have to say that I don't think that I would watch an Esther Williams movie just to see Esther, but as long as she is surrounsed by an enjoyable cast it seems to be ok.

The other movie was a blind buy that I picked up at Big Lots today for $3.00 titled AmericanEast. It was a quite a fascinating story of a muslim family in Los Angeles struggling to keep their business open in the years after 9/11. When the patriarch of the family decides to go into business with a Jewish friend things begin to unravel.

One of the more interesting characters was a Egytian cab driver/actor who seems to only get roles as terrorists. When he finally lands a role as a doctor on 7 episodes of a very popular TV drama he is so excited that he proposes to his long time girlfriend. On the day of filming he finds that his character is cut, but he is offered yet another terrorist role in that same episode. He feels that his dreams are coming to an end.

Quite a good, emotional film.

Well, tonight's "Good Night Moon" went well, except that one actor's mic decided to crap out.  It just wouldn't work correctly...I had to turn it all the way up to hear anything and then there was a LOT of hiss, but not on any of the other mics.
