Does anyone have the CD of Carmelina - I don't know the score at all - that and 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue - looking for a few interesting songs from those shows and need suggestions.  I'd have to assume there's something decent in Carmelina since it's Burton Lane.

I used to have the CD, but it was one that was stolen from my garage several years ago.  If I remember correctly, I was able to (shhh...don't tell anyone) download it.  I can look when I get home.

On the "White House Cantata" recording, June Anderson does not successfully navigate "Duet for One." I know she was a favortie Bernstein soprano, but she is no musical theatre actress.
I agree.

Tuesday morning greetings!  Today I'm off to Dayton for lunch with the grantwriters followed by several errands.

Ginny, how did you manage to work full-time before you retired?  You seem to always be on the go.

LOL, DR TCB!  It only seems like I'm on the go a lot, because I don't usually post about all the hours I spend lounging around the house.

I love my super.  He makes me laugh. I gave him my keys to the apartment because i can't guarantee I can be here when he finally lines all the tenants in 1C, 2C, and 3C with the super. This leak is driving him crazy: up to an apartment to run water in the sink or tub, then down to the basement to see if any water is showing up, up to another apartment to run the water . . .

I thought you loved his nephew, or was it his grandson?

I decided to have some Brown and Serve sausages with my eggs this morning.  Boy, did that knock me into a two-hour MSG nap.

Thank you DR Vixmom for the travel vibes  congratulations.

Congrats to DR Vixter on her job.

I went back to see why your mother had stitches removed.  I was sorry to see she fell again and am glad it wasn't worse.  What was she wearing on her feet when she slipped?  I now wear non skid socks around the house which aren't perfect but definitely better than just socks.  I've noticed most slippers don't have good soles on them.

TOD
Friend and I drove up to Burlington, VT on a Saturday morning for the pure heck of it.  It was my first time in the upper reaches of NY and VT and I was enchanted by the number of still-operating mid-century motels and cabins, ice cream stands, and the lovely Sunset Drive-In where we watched the then-new "South Park" movie with locals who knew not the treasure they had.  Stayed at a just-then-converting-to-something-else Howard Johnson's which evoked memories of family trips long ago; visited Fort Ticonderoga; and briefly saw Lake George for my first time, again being blown away by the abundance of mid-century wonders, including their original A&W stand and Howard Johnson's restaurant -- still one of the three remaining, though this, sadly, might be its last year.  A perfect spontaneous overnight trip that felt more like three days for all we crammed in.

(Yes, DRs, by now you've guessed it.  I'm one of THOSE.  A Howard Johnson's aficionado.  I paid my respects for hours in the Times Square one before it was to be razed.)

It sounds like a wonderful trip.  Keith introduced me to Howard Johnson's.  I like their peppermint stick ice cream.

I usually have those Jesus-get-that-tune-out-of-my-head obsessions when I'm drugged out after surgery. I lie in that hospital bed and the blasted melody won't go away! It turns up, turns over, and turns up again like the proverbial bad penny. It won't turn off and it won't change to another! Usually, it's an insipid simple ditty like "Master of the House" that wants to worm inside your brain and eat it alive.

Finally a reason to be glad I can't hear tunes in my head.  Mostly I feel cheated.

His grandson was great. He's back in Serbia. I couldn't have accomplished much without his help that summer when I was crippled and the bookshelces were repaired. needed repair. They're a good family.

Thank you for all of yesterday's vibes for my friend Amy.  She went home from the hospital late in the afternoon with orders to rest and eat a soft diet.

Continued vibes for her.

Glad to hear MR BK was able to avoid taking the Forest Lawn turnoff, since things are almost certain to have gone badly, with a dead end road leading to an old abandoned office and shed with the drunk caretaker and the night becoming dark and stormy, and the whole damned situation heading swiftly downhill.

The video posted by DR JANE of the young boy hearing for the first time AND DR BEN's posting of the words of ANT's reading were both very emotional moments.

And of course the photos of DR JANE and KEITH and BRYAN were excellent.....as was the photo of the Cake from DR BEN!!!!

I'm up - I was up at six, fell back asleep, the alarm went off at seven, I fell back asleep briefly and had one of the all-time wackiest dreams ever - Ben and Ant were in LA celebrating, I was playing the piano at the Ahmanson for something I'd written that Kathleen Marshall was staging, some beauty pageant kind of thing, then suddenly someone and I were backstage as Follies was about to begin, looking out at an almost empty house, then we went out there and took a seat next to Bernadette Peters and someone (we all seemed to be friends), and then Tommy Lee Jones came in and sat in the row behind us.  Follies began, but the sound was of a guitar being played for whatever was rehearsing elsewhere - and then I was in the mountains holding a rope and there were spiders and I woke up.

That's funny. I dreamt about a spider last night but can't remember what it was doing. I think spiders are common in dreams. I'm sure JRand61 can say why, for a nominal sum.

Really weird.  Until I read these posts I had forgotten last night I had two spiders in my dream.  They were crawling on me and I wanted them off of me fast but didn't want to harm them.  I did eventually, gently remove them.

Is anyone on facebook with him?
