I've spent the day scanning loads of over 100 year old family photographs for relatives. A tedious job but at last I've finished.

Here's two of them:

My grandfather's brother and his wife in Argentina:

Villisca Axe murders

Today is the 100th anniversary of the Villisca Axe murders.  A gruesome crime that was never really solved, split a small Iowa town and remains one of Iowa's big mysteries.

Wow, that took a long time!

DR Doug do you have a typical, small, English refrigerator?

I'm sure it would be considered small - if no tiny - on your side of the pond  :)

Yes, I've written to complain. It's ridiculous to take nearly 3 weeks to get it fixed.

There was a lot of swamp in the first 10 minutes.....but I watched only about 30 minutes of it, and there wasn't much lure.

Marshall Thompson had a very annoying girl friend - he slapped her and she pulled a rifle out on him and fired at the trees.....then some blonde girl from the big city needed Marshall to take her to the swamp so she could take photos for her national publication magazine....and she kept hanging around, too.

And then there were the bank robbers and the missing $290,000.   Willard Parker got his picture in the local paper after he got his neck slashed.....and he had been the first person to make Marshall take him into the swamp....and Willard had a suitcase....and made Marshall stay behind while he hid something.   HOWEVER because Willard Parker is billed so high in the movie, I can't believe he is really dead.....so he probably comes back toward the end of the movie....if I ever decide to watch the rest of it.

Marshall did a scene like they usually do for lady actresses.....where he went out on the dock and the camera panned down to his feet and then he took off his clothes and dived into the swamp......where he said there were gators, but I didn't see any in the first 30 minutes.

So - LURE OF THE SWAMP may be a classic of its kind....but I will have to see the rest of it before I say anything else......oh....and most everyone has a southern accent of one kind or another.

But that's MY screenplay! I was just adding the finishing touches. Someone beat me to it. Damn!

So, BK, I just so happen to know a drag performer. If I suggest your song to him, do you require payment of some kind? How does he get the music? He does his own singing. (Or should that be she?)

Every now and then DR Laura surprises us with one of these little zingers.

It's still raining and it's going to carry on raining all week.

But what about the HHW Tony Party? I hope you can still attend.

There are many things I miss about the East Coast, but the hot summers are not one of them. It has been very comfortable here in my 'hood.

DR DOUG R most excellent photographs.

DR JEANNE - in order to make your screenplay better - add gators!

Thanks for the vibes, DRs Jane and Jeanne.  I am feeling better, but not setting the world on fire today.  Watched the first 3 episodes of HBO's Mildred Pierce.

This morning Keith surprised me by asking if I wanted to go for a hike at on our regular trails.  Of course I said said.  We went for a long one by Keith's standards.  I got a bit emotional in the beginning but boy did it feel good to be there.

Except for the day we said goodbye to Sherlock I don't think Keith has ever gone without a dog.  For me the trails aren't just my hike with Sherlock or Echo, it is also my place.

Sunday morning greetings!  No trip to Lima for me today, because I spent most of the night feeling slightly nauseous.  Don't know if I ate something "off" or what, but it's a little better now.

It was probably eating someone else's deviled eggs.

That did cross my mind, DR TCB...
