There has also been an ongoing controversy about whether work for hire should be 1099 or W2.  One of the most vocal participants is a woman who singlehandedly put an end to the arts series I hosted because she filed for unemployment after having done a one night gig for us.

How did the hookers vote?

Well I suppose since I don't know the all of the laws, I will just say that I have always been paid on a 1099 for my theatre work. I guess my thought is....if all you get is a one-night gig a couple of times a year, you might look for other employment or move to a place where your talent is in more demand.

Let me know if you find out where that place might be.

I was seething with jealousy all last evening reading the tweets of people who were attending the Public Theater 50th Anniversary gala performance of ROMEO & JULIET.  But then I saw the pictures this morning and saw that the performers were not in period costumes and I thought "meh."  When I see Meryl play Juliet, I want her in a muslin skirt at least...

My feelings about the Shakespeare plays for our festival.  I now ask if they will be in traditional costume before purchasing tickets.

We're doing "Titus Andronicus" as 1970s Hell's Angels bikers.

The new Michael John LaChiusa, "Queen of the Mist," is being released today.

I know that will provoke a couple of yawns.

I ordered it, but I also ordered another CD at the same time that won't be released until next week, so I probably won't get it until next week's CD is released.  I love Mary Testa, so I'm looking forward to it.

Am I the only person who thinks there is something wrong with these online schools that say they will train you to be a psychologist?

DR BEN I liked DAZZLER - it was interesting to read about Moss Hart's life.....and all of the people in it.  Not incisive or revelatory, but a nice commentary on his life and times....and all the people he worked with.

Now, when you say "talk" do you mean actual verbal discussion, or do you mean a sharing of ideas?

It has been my experience that when someone says "we need to talk" it means that they want to talk and they want me to listen.

Talk to versus talk with.

Blah, blah, blah ... Don't talk. Send me your deepest thoughts in an email of no more than 140 characters. And include any subtext or urtext as needed. Just don't exceed the 140 characters.

Well, there was some miscommunication and the HVAC guys will be here Wednesday and Thursday, not Tuesday and Wednesday as we'd expected.  Not looking forward to sleeping without AC tonight and I'm definitely not cooking dinner.

My Mother had an ultrasound on her leg today to rule out blood clots and, apparently, doesn't have anything that warranted admission to the hospital (a routine with which I'm very familiar...).  She also had 3 vials of blood drawn, with some difficulty, for some tests ordered by her new primary care physician.  It went pretty smoothly, but she was ready for a nap when I got her home.

We are still supposedly going from 70 today, which is all we attained thanks to the persistent overcast, to 93 tomorrow and higher on Thursday.

I have to say it's heartening to read about Ginny and Cilla and the fact that at least one of their parents is still around, something that DW Wife Betsy also shares (both of hers are still alive).  My parents have been dead for so many years that it always surprises me to meet people in my general age group whose parents are still with us.  Love them while they're here!

It's raining a bit here in Tumwater.  I like it. :)
