I will probably not be participating. I have to user AND work concesstions tomorrow...fortunately, not at the same time. My call time for ushering is $12:30 and for concessions, I need to be (back) there at 5:30. They're also both at the same place, so there's no possibility of a problem with overlapping duties. As usual, I don't know what the performances are. I just say that I'm available and they assign me stuff to do.

Taking an intermission and going to Gelson's to rustle up a snack. Had a frustrating lunch today - I had a total craving for an Islands Big Wave so I drove to Encino to have one. Along the way they have totally ripped up Ventura Blvd. between Woodman and Beverly Glen - it's a disaster area and sickening and it all goes down to one lane and it rook fifteen bloody minutes to go a mile. And it looks like it's been going on for weeks and that there is no end in sight (what else is new). But I finally get to Islands, which I haven't been to in about eight months and what do I find? Gone. Closed. Kaput. Unbelievable. Apparently a raise of rent was the culprit. Sometimes owners of buildings are beyond stupid. Now they have an empty building which will, I have no doubt, sit empty for years. Bravo and I hope it sits empty forever.

Went to an olive orchard in the area for a dinner tonight. Beforehand, I saw this sweet calf getting a drink. She was interested in the camera, but not enough to make her give up her milk snack.

I don't know Islands, but what happened to BK is one of the scourges of my existence. Or is it banes? Do existences have scourges or banes? I think mine has both. And I can think of a few things I'd like many commercial property landlords to have. We have lost so many good, irreplaceable things -- needlessly.
