After I meet Ben, I'll take the bus home and see what fresh hell awaits. There's usually something.

You know, Elmore, I hate it when Fresh Hell is the daily special. So, why is it that that happens so often? Perhaps that's an ask BK question.

I don't know that I'm running on any engine today. It feels very much stuck in neutral.

Here is a photo album from the local paper of SHAKESPEARED! - the Youth Theatre Workshop.  I HATE THAT IT'S KEEPING ME FROM BUILDING MY SET FOR TWO WEEKS, but it's hard to be mad when the kids look like they are having so much fun.

This is a song that I wrote with my son, David, for our (still in development) musical version of HAIL ON THE CHIEF!.

We eventually cut the number because it didn't work within the book, but I happened to listen to the demo again last week, and was (once again) so taken with Cindy Robinson's terrific rendition that I decided to turn it into a music video for her.

Please enjoy!

At last night's rehearsal - of Act Two - which we did twice.....we did okay.....and the second time through both scenes were better.

As I gave one note - one actor decided to talk about how he agreed with me and that is was the right thing to do....I let him finish, and then went on without comment.  I think he was the only person in the room who didn't know I was annoyed....he also gives notes and direction to the other actors no matter how many times I tell him to stop....

There is another actor playing the same role here that he had played before - and I give him DIFFERENT things to do, and especially different ways to say things.....he does what I say for one rehearsal and then it's back to the old way - which is NOT GOOD.  I gave him some actions to do during one long speech - and he did them half assed for two rehearsals, so last night I said: "Just forget it.  You can't get your actions to match your words, which they SHOULD."

As another oblivious person, he thought he was being praised, and said: "Thank you. I didn't like it either."

It wasn't working because you WEREN'T doing it correctly, dummy.  This last sentence of course was understood rather than spoken aloud.

Pug, who directed both productions of Cannibal! The Musical! that I was in, said that she would never cast people in a role that they'd performed before...especially if she'd directed them (unless she really had no choice).  She wants to see people do different things.  She doesn't even like to see people audition with pieces from shows that they've performed in (when she's seen the performance).

I try to avoid it, too DR GEORGE.....but I was stuck.....as usual....

Our talent pool for men of a certain age is pretty shallow.

DR JRand,

I watched SUSAN SLADE the other day and thought of you. I had never seen the whole movie before. I liked it, mostly. And the baby catching on fire gave me a start, even though I knew it was coming.

Was Dorothy McGuire pregnant when she made that film...she sure looks a bit hefty in the middle during some scenes.

So, did anyone know (or care) that Donnybrook! is now available as a CD-R from Amazon?  It also has not one, but two different downloadable MP3 options!  The CD-R was just released two weeks ago.

The samples all sound like the exact same samples.

Did a three mile walk (well it's better than nothing!) and as I'd only had a tomato and tiny piece of ham for breakfast, I stopped off for a bacon, tomato and cheese baguette - I only ate half the bread though.

Did I miss something?  Are you dieting?  It would have been easier to diet when you didn't have a frig.

Hot Hot Hot

Today, we are hoping to reach 70 degrees.  It is currently beautiful and 64 degees.  Tomorrow it is supposed to rain, but the temperature will be 71,  Naturally, since the Taste of Tacoma starts on Friday, that is when our temperatures are going to decrease.

BK, I hang out on occasion on two Facebook sites, "Original Cast Recordings" and Forgotten Musiicals" as well as cast recording list, and there are complete assholes who know nothing and believe they know it all on everyone of them.  One of them is a smug, complete horror on all three sites. To paraphrase Miss Gertrude Stein, a fool is a fool is a fool is . . .

They are everywhere, and sometimes they are in charge!
