And 13 years later, Miss Doris Dowling (who almost became Mrs. Billy Wilder) was co-starring in The Party Crashers with Miss Frances Farmer.

Congrats to DR TCB, DR DOUG, and DR GEORGE on their millstones.

I woke up at 5 a.m. and have not been able to go back to sleep.

I have been listening to THE COLLAGE - the cd that DR JMK (who?) - recommended a couple of weeks back....it is most entertaining and certainly defines a late 1960's type of groovy music.....

I also received ALL IN A NIGHT'S WORK yesterday.

Act One Rehearsal was okay.....one person has serious LINE issues....and of course that messes everything up....and of course that SAME person walked where he was told not to walk and kicked a wire and tore the buzzer off the wall.....after walking between the window and the drop....and being seen where he was not supposed to be....and asking me why he was wearing a coat when they talk about fireflies outside.

....because you are in scenes that take place on three different days, and we only have two suits that fit you, that's why.

Thanks, DR TCB.  But I think I am going to give them tomorrow off.  Three people had marked it as a conflict day....anyway.....so it would be difficult to do any real work.

Good morning, all! I slept late because I could not get to sleep last night. I don't know if it's the prescription I've begun as a glaucoma precaution or too many concerns or the heat. So, I slept late, and I will shortly head to Toyland to insureyesterday's delivery didarrive and to deal with the final round of fixes in the orchestra parts.

I like NYC on holidays: there's litte traffic,  it's quieter, and the only problem is that the MTA is on a holiday schedule. After I finish up with Toyland this morning, I'll head hme to write a long enail I've been avoiding for aweek now. I have no plans for tomorrow, and i'm deciding if I want to watch a lot of Hammer horror films on DVD or go to a movie.

DR TCB, I'm sorry to hear the final news about your friend. I think his son did the right thing, so I hope he's not suffering much guilt over his decision.

Last night around 9:30, Rob Berman called me to tell me that he'd spent the weekend driving hither and yon and he listened to the Herbert Songs. It's the most positive review I've received so far!

THE LOST WEEKEND is one of the first movies I actually recall watching with my parents on TV.  The scene with the bats gave me little boy nightmares for years and is probably the source of my fear of them.

A new Kenneth Branagh Wallender series - only 3 episodes - starts on BBC this Sunday. I'll see what it's like but I wasn't keen on the previous British made episodes.

I seem to remember something about a rat in my dream last night. It must have been due to having read an old newspaper article which said Vincent Price had complained, following a visit to a movie theater. He was watching the film whilst eating from a box of popcorn. Price looked down and saw a rat nibbling at the popcorn as well.

Good morning, all.

Stupid, REPEATING dreams, and a need to once again turn the a/c back on in the wee small hours, made for a disruptive sleep between 5:00 and 7:00 a.m.  But then I got about an hour of decent rest, and I am now applying liberal doses of coffee to the wounds.

Fireworks display partay tonight.  Neither of the town's two main fireworks displays takes place on the 4th any more.  The town of Danbury did theirs on Saturday night and the big mall in town does theirs tonight, with a rain date of... Thursday?

Also how either Living Together, Growing Together or Lost Horizon (Title song)

I've worked with too many rats, several of whom are doing quite well, to never (hopefully) dream about them.

I love Billy Wilder's movies, but I must admit that THE LOST WEEKEND is one I always try to avoid.

It may be an excellent film, but the subject matter (for me) is a turn-off.
