Question-- Is Guy Haines going to be singing "She Likes Basketball" for the Burt Bacharach extravaganza?

Black Bear might indeed be east coast.  Do you have Boar's Head brand deli stuff out there?  I think that's east coast, too.  At any rate, I didn't know it till I moved here.

Maybe those are sold in the western US under different names.  Like Hellman's mayonnaise, which is Best on the west coast.

Chas, you mentioned having an egg on a hamburger.  Do you fry the egg by itself and then put it on as a topping, or do cook the egg on top of the burger while you are cooking the meat?

Not something I've made myself, but it was fried separately, sunny side up (or maybe over easy, but the yolk is definitely soft), and placed on top of the burger right there along with cheese, onion, etc.  And it's just as messy as it sounds.  But SO delicious.

Like the new avatar, TCB.

Peach-cherry galettes are in the oven. The recipe was so tiny, I had to make two.

The weather in Manhattan has gone from dismal and rainy to bright and hot. I went down to Kinko's on 72nd Street to bind a full score for DEAREST ENEMY Act Two, and now I am home, happy with the AC and the telly.  i've written my diffcult emails, packed what I need for tomorrow morning, and I am ready to relax for the rest of the day.

I just ate some eggs, sausage and toast.

Which brings me back to the subject of fried eggs on hamburgers.  Something I used to order for breakfast in L.A. coffee shops was, instead of bacon or sausage, a hamburger patty and eggs.  If I recall, it's often on the menu out there, whereas I don't think I've ever seen it elsewhere.  But it's really good, as long as the hamburger itself is good, and of course it's a simple matter to place one of your fried eggs on the patty and have at it.  Very yummy.

It has been cloudy here for a few days, but we haven't had rain yet. It's coming, though. Eventually.

I made chicken salad out of some leftover chicken. I have never heard of an egg on a hamburger until I read it here.

"They" have determined that the Sunflower Fire  (one of the biggest fires this season -- and one of the earliest) was caused by someone shooting guns in the dry desert.

The fire that burned right up to the entrance gate of the arboretum last year was also caused by someone firing guns in the dry desert.

Yes, I was cutting back stuff in the yard, and I gathered some Queen Ann's Lace to put in a vase to take to church tomorrow.

Potato salad!

I love potato salad.  Boil potatoes, boil eggs, cut up some onion and celery.  Mix mayonaise, yellow mustard and a little pickle juice for dressing. I don't measure, just do it to taste...add salt and pepper of course.

As I posted late last night, I cancelled the trip to Vegas for the flute convention.  I'm really glad I did, because now I have credit on Southwest airlines and since it has been 20 years since I left Phoenix, I'm thinking about going to visit.  If I go in August, I can get incredible deals at any of the really nice resorts.  I'm thinking Scottsdale.  I always lived farther south in the valley and would like to go to Taliesin West and of course get together with the Arizona contingent.

I'd take you for a walk, Cillaliz, but, um, even I don't go for walks in August here.

Oh, I know.  I realize it's about the worst time to go to Phx, but that's why it's the cheapest, lol.
