Wednesday.

And we return to our regular performance schedule this evening for "The Curious Savage."

Four more, counting tonight.

Then it's on to my three small parts in "Thoroughly Modern Millie".....and hopefully a part in "See How They Run" which I will audition for on Sunday.

Will you be reading for the Reverend Lionel Toop?

This song has been running through my head all morning:

Slow down, you're movin' too fast
You gotta make the morning last
 Just kickin' down the cobblestones
 Lookin' for fun and
 Feelin' groovy!

 Hello lamp post,
 Whatcha knowin?
I've come to watch your flowers growin'...
Ain'tcha got no rhymes for me?
 Doo Bee Doo Doo,
 Feelin' groovy!

 Got no deeds to do,
 No promises to keep!
I'm dappled and drowsy and ready to sleep!
Let the morningtime drop all its petals on me...
 Life, I love you,
 All is groovy!

I hope all of you have a "feelin' groovy" day!

As a matter if fact, I will.  But I may be too old for the role.  I shall probably end up as the Bishop of Lax.

Hmmmmmmm.....a small photo tag published on  May 7, 1955,  with picture of Allison Hayes states that she is co-starring with Dennis O'Keefe in Chicago Syndicate and "will be seen next with Jose Ferrer in 'The Shrike."  Which of course, she wasn't.

...speaking of Allison Hayes, have you noticed Ebay has had some nifty photos of her for sale; ones that I have not seen before.

Alas, I have decided that my Allison Hayes photo collection is complete enough for now, so no bidding by the likes of me (or course some of them are out of my price range anyhow.)

And another favorite Bollywood actor has breathed his last.

Rajesh Khanna passed away at age 69.  :-[

Besides being dreamy, he was also very talented. His role in ANAND always makes me cry. And this number from ARADHANA is one of the most erotic I have ever witnessed...even though both stars are fully clothed.

It is killer hot outside. The computer says it's 98 but it feels much hotter. I went to the greenmarket for some apples, went home, had some lunch and came right back to the office. The apartment is not HOT but we turn the AC off during the day and keep the curtains closed and a fan runs to circulate the remaining cool air from the AC, but it's just too hot to sit for an hour. When I go home for the night I'll turn the AC on about 6 or 7pm. Anthony doesn't seem to mind it, but it's killing me.

I can't wait until tomorrow and Friday when it's supposed to be in the mid-80s and  then the high 70s!!!

Yes....I have just been saving them to my hard drive.  Most are those Chicago Tribune pictures that are priced at more than $30 each.....so they are beyond my budget as well.

Yeah, well, thanks to a certain Errant & Truant HHW'er and the former Official Tweeter of The Public Theater, I've had *this* stuck in my head all morning:

Ever since I was a young boy,
I've played the silver ball.
From SoHo down to Brighton,
I must have played them all.
But I ain't seen nothin' like him
In any amusement hall.
That deaf, dumb and blind kid
Sure plays a mean pinball.

He stands like a statue,
Becomes part of the machine.
Feelin' all the bumpers,
Always playin' clean.
He plays by intuition.
The digit counters fall.
That deaf, dumb and blind kid
Sure plays a mean pinball.

He's a pinball wizard,
There has to be a twist.
A pinball wizard,
Got such a supple wrist...

Ask BK:

So, you mentioned not liking the tacked-on narration in "Body Snatchers." Do you think that there ought to be some way to see the movie without the narration? Or should that be up to the director? And what should happen, if the director has died or otherwise can't make the decision?

In this case, it's well known the director was unhappy with the changes - but there's no way to do it - no one knows where the original elements are.

My question for ASK BK DAY today:  Do you often get recognized as a celebrity in public?

It happens occasionally.

Last week DR Elmore mentioned the Tony Walton book publised bu USITT.  Well, I ordered it immediately and it arrived yesterday.  At $25.00, I had sort of expected it to be a hardcover--instead it is a very nicely bound softcover.  But it is jam-packed with photos and it looks like it covers his career in detail.  So in the end, I'm not disappointed at all.

That reminds me, I wanted to ask if Ted Chapin's "Everything Was Possible" is all one would presumably expect it to be.  I picked up a beautiful hardcover copy a few years ago and literally just "discovered" it -- this very morning -- on my shelf.  Is this serendipity, or what?  Or just Dippity Do?  In a decent world, BK's CD and this book would be the perfect way to start my Education.

I think it's a wonderful book. It's written with no agenda and his take on Follies and how it happened is great. It's well worth the read.

That reminds me, I finished The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society and it was also an excellent read. I've been overdosing on biography lately (I'm about to start Leslie Caron's autobiography) but this was great. It's a quick read but I didn't want it to end. It has little twists and turns and goes from humor to pathos on the turn of a dime. If you haven't read it, I recommend it.

Apparently the movie is having casting troubles and has not begun filming yet, according to Wikipedia.

I  agree. I was fixated. I got it for Christmas and didn't speak to anyone for days after that until I had  finished. And that was my present to everyone that year.  :D

This is getting silly, because just sitting here thinking about this I also remembered buying the "FOLLIES:  The Complete Collection" Vocal Selections.  Apparently I was rarin' to go on this at some point, and now it looks like it's actually going to happen.

I don't think one can say "raring to go".  Right?  One can only be "rarin' to go".  One can "rar'", but cannot "rare".
