You notice I didn't say that anyone was trying to read elmore's mind!

That was a word  to the wise.

FOLLIES arrived, along with Bach Motets. Which should I listen to?
Both. At the same time.  ;)

Saturday afternoon greetings!  I went this morning to the Methodist church that Richard and I used to attend for the memorial service for a special long-time member.  She had been a good friend of my mother-in-law's and was very tolerant during the several years that I sat behind her in the Temple Choir.  Sat with my niece Jennifer, who, along with her husband, just did a big favor for me.

I may have mentioned that Richard is at the seminary in Wisconsin until after church next Sunday.  Just before I left this morning our smoke detector started chirping, indicating that the batteries need to be replaced.  I can't reach it and was not about to get up on a step ladder.  I told Jen about it and she and Scott just stopped by to disconnect it for me.  Rob and Mary Linda will be here tomorrow and he'll put it back up after I get new batteries - it takes 2 and, of course, I only have one of the right size.
I think there's a law about batteries. It's happened to me more than once.

I went on a butterfly walk at the arboretum. Just as we were finishing, we found this very large two-tailed swallowtail sipping minerals from the damp sand.

Beautiful butterfly. And a beautiful photo.

Ah, reminds me of THIS WONDERFUL RENDITION of a bizarre song to begin with.

Thought about going out to get a pizza for dinner, but I think a high-speed chase just went by on Central Avenue (the street parallel to ours)  :o

I gotta tell you.  The foolish people brigade are out in huge numbers, Follies-wise - I must have had fifty e-mails asking why people haven't received their CD that wasn't slated to ship until the end of August.  So far I think I've managed to hold some semblance of civility, but it's crumbling fast.

Getting more great comments, though, and that makes everything worthwhile.  And some East Coast copies have shown up today.

Has anyone heard any buzz on the street about the upcoming CHAPLIN?

Is that the one with Anthony Newley and Andrea Marcovicci? If so it closed out of town. :-0

Are you familiar with the "Last 70MM Film Festival" presented by AMPAS at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater. Left to be shown are: The Sound Of Music, 2001: A Space Odyssey and Spartacus.

They should Grand Prix, It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World and Sleeping Beauty already. They had surviving cast members onstage and being interviewed before the movie.

Rob McClure, who's playing Chaplin, is amazing. He was Charley for the Encores! production of WHERE's CHARLEY? I wish him a huge success.

Yes, that's where I saw the recent Lawrence of Arabia screening.

Thank heaven they found that weirdly filed eight track session master because I REALLY didn't want to use the old album mix.  One More Kiss is the only track where I actually had to "fix" something - know one has figured it out or noticed it yet.  On the original CD (wherever that awful mix came from) at the final note, you'll notice that young Heidi stops early and then they quickly fade out old Heidi, which is WRONG.  On the tapes it's obvious what happened and their attempt to fix it is ludicrous - young Heidi was very hoarse - it was the last thing recorded - and she simply stopped singing early instead of holding her note out to the end.  Old Heidi holds her note properly to the end.  With a little digital trickery, they are both holding the note now and it's finally correct. :)

Question for BK:   why only produce 1500 copies of Follies when it was expected to be a big seller?

Plus, the Viewer's Choice All-Star choices -- vying for the final, 13th slot -- are:
Cheetah Girls singer/actress Sabrina Bryan
Disney star Kyle Massey
Celeb stylist and TV star Carson Kressley

This was only announced yesterday afternoon.  Not really such a great cast, especially for the women.

Some I would not consider allstars. And too many winners.

I also really hope that my favorite pro Derek does not end up with Pamela or Bristol.

Remeberr Jennifer, a lot of the "all-stars" may have no desire to do this competition again.

I heard yesterday on the news that Derek was leaving the show to make a movie.

There are still plenty of good dancers who wanted to do it.

I think Derek said this was going to be his last season. Not sure if it's forever. Hope not. Him and his sister have been my favorite pros. They are such talented choreographers.

Good morning, world.

I'd like to thank the cats for letting me sleep in a little this morning.  It was sorely needed.  Now, just let this coffee begin working.

Nick got his breakfast at five, instead of six.  Then I went back to bed till eight o'clock.  Four and a half hour Opening Ceremony?  They couldn't start that at four o'clock our time, instead of seven-thirty?

I read a lot of negative comments on NBC's facebook post about the Olympics. People were super mad that they couldn't watch the Opening Ceremonies live. I know I would have been fuming too.

NBC should have shown it live from 4pm-7:30pm eastern and then replayed it at 7:30pm.

I thought the AC was included.  Are the other appliances built in ;)

Sorry, I am probably wrong.

Nope, you're not wrong. AC is not built in for most buildings like Larry's and mine (meaning central air). You usually have a unit in the window. The stove and fridge are part of the apartment.

Are you saying that you shipped the cds THIS THURSDAY as in 2 days ago? And people are filing disputes? Have they gone mad. Even last Thursday would be crazy.
