Also, astonishingly, I got an e-mail from someone raving about Follies and telling me not to pay attention to the people on the castrec group - apparently someone or some people have been bitching about something.  What is WRONG with these people?  If someone can fill me in perhaps I'll have some fun with it.

You will never please everyone, BK. Some of those people can only post if they can complain about something. Nothing is ever good enough. Just ignore the idiots.

I heard there's a sequel to THE CLOSER, which has largely the same cast.

MAJOR CRIMES.

DR John G, I also liked THE BOOK THIEF very much. I think you'll enjoy reading it, too. The book design is interesting, and makes it a visual experience, as well.

I know it's billed as young adult, but I found it pretty dark for YA.
I think I will read it after I finish school. I  am enjoying it that much.

I did see a stack of copies tonight on the Summer Reading table for students at Barnes and Noble tonight.

So glad to hear that Keith's eye procedure went well and that Craig got a job.
Double good news.

Just finishing up "Making the Boys," and have nothing further to add to BK's earlier rave, except that I'm happy that I can use a comment or two in my paper on Hiroshima and 9/11. Go figure.

Back from a Juliana meeting - I ate some pad thai and a salad.  I'm feeling very bloated right now - jogging tomorrow and very light food.

Good Evening!

I'm back from The Delacorte...

I really liked this production of Into the Woods. It's definitely not your mother or father's Into the Woods, and that's OK. -Although, I did get a kick out of one particular audience member who bitched and moaned as he filed out of the theatre, "The English have to mess up everything. They just can't leave well enough alone. It's because of all the Shakespeare they do. I'm sure Stephen Sondheim hates this production and will want to shut it down." -WHAT?!?!? In any case...

The weather cooperated wonderfully, and it was great to see such an amazingly talented cast on that stage. I may even try to see it again during the final week of its run.

After we left Central Park, Yosh and I went to Ditch Plains where (one of our) favorite bartenders happened to be on duty tonight. We didn't drink, but we did eat: Jalapeño-Cheddar Tater Tots, Deviled Eggs with Fried Oysters and their new Seared Scallops entree (with Charred Corn Puree, Cherry Tomatoes, Zucchini and Basil). All quite delicious. burp

And once Follies finishes up, I shall be heading to bed since I have to play the Judge's "Johanna" in the morning.

Oh My God.

That's all I can say, having just listened to FOLLIES.

It's all new to me, so I have no points of reference.  And I didn't sample the LP first.  I'll do that later.  Probably won't get far with it, but it'll be fun.  I just dove right in.  The CD just sounds truly wonderful.

And what a score.  This book of the songs that I'd never opened up just became worth its weight in gold, though I'm sure I'll eventually want the actual score.

DR ChasSmith - Thankfully, the piano/vocal score is back in print. There was a year or two when it wasn't, and the prices for used copies were sky-high.

I bought the hi-def download of the original London production from digitaltheatre.com.  I thoroughly enjoyed it!

You know, I don't think I have ever noticed the scoring on men's diving.

What's the purpose of scoring?  That's what I say. ;)

Then how about Men's Water Polo?

::)

Re: Is he gay or European.

Elmore, Matthew was referring to a song from Legally Blonde. Or in his case, Legally Blonde, Jr.

LOL - this would NOT be a Jr show this time!!
