Good Morning! Good Afternoon!

I'm up, I'm up... And I'm currently sitting in a very comfy chair in a friend's apartment in the West Village by the large window overlooking Waverly St with a suprisingly uninstructed view all the way to the Hudson River. Not a bad way to spend a drizzly afternoon in NYC.

And...

I feel it is my duty to report that the reason I did not post last night was because the bartender at Landmarc served me quite a potent Manhattan. -properly made with rye (Michter's)

I also went to last night's Mostly Mozart concert at Avery Fisher Hall. It turned out to be the Gala Opening concert of the festival: lots of tuxedos, ball gowns, dining tables set up on the terrace, etc. My friend and I were in jeans and button down shirts.

It was one of the now rare All Mozart programs of the festival: Overture to "La Clemenza Di Tito", the D Minor Piano Concerto with Nelson Friere, two tenors arias sung beautifully by Lawrence Brownlee and then the "Prague" Symphony. It was a great evening of Music and Music Making.

After the Mozart, we moseyed on down to the Time-Warner Center to get a post-concert bite to eat at Landmarc: Salmon Tartare, Chicken Burger, sides of Mashed Chickpeas with Escarole and Sautéed Mushrooms, and Vanilla, Chocolate and Coconut Ice Creams to finish. All quite yummy.

Oh... And the bartender, Greg, mixed up something vodka-y and citrusy and minty for my friend, Michael, and a Michter's Manhattan for me.*

*When I was at Landmarc earlier in the week for a late lunch, Chef Marc Murphy (who you may know from "Chopped") was there. He came by and said Hi - we met a few years ago at a charity event, and we seem to run into each other regularly at his restaurants. Well, when Chef left, Greg asked me if I was a regular, and I filled him in our history, so to speak... And when the check came, my beer and dessert had been comped... And our cocktails ended up being comped last night too. :)

Since END OF THE RAINBOW is so popular here:

Did I ever post the special lyric "Tracie Bennett" had for Judy Garland's 90th birthday?

THE TRACIE SONG
tune of THE TROLLEY SONG

(verse)
With a London triumph, an iconic role
And reviews my mother couldn’t write
It’s such a thing of beauty,
The praise I won as Judy
I kicked butt, to be polite

Ching ka-ching went producers
Ring, ring, ring went the phone
Yes, yes, yes went  investors
Even though I was kind of unknown

Buzz, buzz, buzz went the columns
Hype, hype, hype went the net
Type, type, type went the lawyers
The investment felt like a sure bet

Here in New York, the praises spread
But all the same we started out of town instead
We took it slow, our goal was clear
We all were hoping that the critics soon would cheer

Whoo, whoo, whoo went the papers
Up, up, up went my star
Stop, stop, stop went the presses
As the buzz starts to grow the whole town comes to know
That I’m grand
And exactly as planned
All the phone lines are manned
As we stand
With a hand
For the brand
For our show!
Here on Judy’s nine-oh!

;D

Good one, DR FJL.

END OF THE RAINBOW has been on my "catch up" list for this week. However...

I'm guessing I missed a discussion about this while I was in Manderley, but... I remember when the show first opened on Broadway, I had a bunch of friends tell me NOT to see it. Bad script, bad play. However, they loved Tracie Bennett. But then after it opened, I had other friends telling me to see it because they loved the script, loved the play and loved Tracie Bennett. So... Who's right? ::)

I don't know.  Since we love DR Ben, isn't DR Ben right?

And if we go to the New York Times site, a different Ben will be right, no?  :)

DR Ben, feel better!

The repair service called about the AC. They'll be here on Friday.

DR elmore - Condolences again to you and your family. I have a feeling your Aunt Jenny will make herself known to you over the next couple of days if she hasn't already,

Curiously, last night around 9pm, a flexible binder that was wedged onto a CD shelf suddenly flew off the shelf and fell onto the floor.  I'm not making this up. It really spooked me.

Hardly a moment too soon.  Friday and Saturday, at least, are forecast to be 90 or above.

Good morning all.

I've woke to a cool house so I am thinking that the problem with the AC is indeed fixed.  One problem down!

I didn't feel like walking either last night or this morning. Maybe tonight when things are calmer.

I have to get ready to take Sheena to the vet.  I gave her a bath last night so she would be nice and clean.  Toby jumped in the tub as soon as Sheena got out.  He wanted a bath too.

I'm still debating as to if I should put the doggie door panel in and keep  him in the house today.   I don't want him trying to get out of the yard.  I'm thinking the house would be best.  The AC is working.  I just hope he doesn't take it in his head to tear everything up.

Vibes to all who need them.

So sorry to hear of your loss, DR Elmoore.

Have a wonder filled day all!

Good morning, all! I slept late, and I plan to do very little today. Take a walk, visit a hardware store to have keys made, and tidy the apartment.

No, DR John G, nothing's been done about the AC. I'm dragging my feet on spending the money, and I need to send another email to my landlord, since I received no response in the past week to a phone call or an email.

I have little more to report.

More coffee!

So elmore, your AC has to be installed into the wall?

Starting to work on lines for SEE HOW THEY RUN.  We block Act One tonight......

We are using the blocking in the book....exactly....HOWEVER they have reversed the set - so "just follow the blocking, only go the opposite way than it says....oh and the kitchen is up stage left - not center....."

Exactly the blocking from the book?  I hope they aren't paying this director.

BK, such a nice write up of THE ARTIST. Like any movie, some liked it and some didn't, but some seemed to want to dislike it because everyone else did like it. I have never understood that type of attitude.

I never like or dislike based on whether something is popular or not. Well, I guess that is obvious.

I see by the newpaper that Oregon is headed towards the very high 90s for the weekend. I am not sure I am happy about that. The older I get the less I enjoy extreme weather...and besides, Oregon is supposed to be known for it's mild climate.
