FJL, in response to your question last night, that was the day the publisher set for the release of the whole series. I think 25 cities around the country had their Food Lovers' books debut yesterday. My friend and colleague, Bonnie, and I went out to a Mexican seafood place for a small celebration and some spectacular guacamole.

BK, thanks for asking me to post the amazon link.

Just ordered my copy so now Amazon only has 9 left in stock!!!

Marvin Hamlisch's The Way We Were (with the Bergman's) is in my top ten of Academy Award Winning. It is a perfect main title song that sets up the story without giving away the plot. The music is reused as underscore at key moments and the song is reprised at the end of the film to wrap up the story of Katie and Hubbell and having Mrs. James Brolin singing the song you could not have gone wrong.

I agree with you.

Good morning, all.

Could well have used another hour or two of sleep, but it's going to be a crazy few days here, with a wholly unplanned but very much desired project... repaving the driveway.

The oldest part of it will get repaved, and on the newer half they'll fill the cracks and broken bits and put a seal coat on it.  That part's 18 years old, and the older part is of unknown age, but probably 30+ years.  It's a long winding hilly driveway (actually I don't even know how long -- a few hundred feet at least), the bad part of which has been more difficult to keep passable with every passing winter.  A family-run paving company made several of us offers that were pretty hard to turn down, and we're all going for it even though it's a huge unplanned expense.  But not as huge as it could be, and the improvements will be immeasurable.

I typed all of that on my first cup of coffee.  Is it readable?  Time for a refill.

I'm sure you will be happy you did this.  When we redid our driveway we found it less slippery & safer to walk & drive.

Today I get to go see my regular doctor.  He has not seen me since the dramatic weight loss.  He is always telling me to go on a diet, so I will blame him for it.

I didn't know Imelda  Staunton was married to the man who plays Carson on "Downton Abbey."

It is moving time and the car is full.  Unfortunately there are still items outside the car that need to be fit into it.  Yogi is concerned he will be left behind.  Poor Kitty will have to be in her carrier.
But there is room for Kitty's carrier, right, and not strapped to the hood of the car?

;D

Actually the concern is that she gets enough ventilation with all the stuff packed around her.  If Craig's backpack doesn't tip over it will be ok.

Spent about an hour familiarizing myself with the computer, a PC, in the senior center development office.  The most important thing I learned is how much I love my Mac...

Here's a fun video offering a preview of the musical "Chaplin," its star, who bears a remarkable likeness to the show's namesake, and to creating the bread roll ballet.

John G., I have a wolfberry in my backyard that draws a lot of bees (Lycium exsertum). I think it is native to Arizona, but I'll bet there are wolfberries that grow in Texas as well. I also have something called a superstition mallow (Abutilon palmeri) that draws bees as well.

Purchased JohnG's book.  Had lunch with Daisy Eagan.  Picked up a couple of packages.  Trying to get up the energy to finish liner notes number two.
